To be aware and knowledgeable of the working principles in psychology and oncology in an oncology setting
To assess and identify psychological distress in cancer patients/caregivers/families using appropriate screening measures
Identify psychological distress in cancer patients/caregivers/families that warrant further psychological evaluation and counselling
Coordinating and communicating with consultants regarding the need for psycho-oncological consultations at out-patient and in-patient departments
Implementation of SOPs and processes designed by the department
Conducting sessions with patients/caregivers who report moderate to severe distress (OP & IP), using appropriate psychological interventions
Provide tobacco cessation counselling
Teaching and conducting relaxation for patients/caregivers
Undergo on-going training in psychology, psycho-oncology and tobacco cessation and related oncological concepts
Assist in conducting family sessions with consultants and/or senior psychologist
Take part in the formation and facilitation of support groups
Plan,conduct and present research studies with the senior psychologist
Taking note of the patients who are getting discharged in the IP and number of patients in OP
Participating and conducting in house training for nurses and other staff on identification and understanding of psychological issues and distress
Conducting appropriate psychological assessments if patient warrants a clinical diagnosis
Attending conferences, workshops, discussion etc related to psycho-oncology in hospital and outside
Organizing and conducting workshops and programs in psycho-oncology
Participating in out-reach programs and cancer awareness programs
