About the Role:


OBLF is looking for an experienced Psychiatric Social Worker with at least 5 years of experience in community mental health to join our team. The successful candidate will play a dual role by providing psychological counseling and assessments for individuals in need, while also taking on responsibilities in program coordination and implementation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the mental health and well-being of underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Case Identification & Psychosocial Support

Identify individuals with common and severe mental disorders through community outreach and program referrals. Conduct psychosocial assessments, including evaluating family, social, and economic factors affecting the individual's mental health. Provide basic counseling, crisis intervention, and ongoing emotional support to patients and caregivers. Facilitate adherence to treatment plans and monitor patient progress through home visits and follow-up calls.
2. Care Coordination & Referral

Link patients to appropriate mental health services at PHCs, taluk hospitals, or other healthcare facilities. Coordinate with clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and other professionals for comprehensive care. Support patients in accessing government schemes, disability benefits, and social welfare programs.
3. Community Engagement

Organize and facilitate community awareness sessions on mental health, stigma reduction, and caregiver support. Mobilize local networks, self-help groups, and community leaders to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with mental illness.
4. Capacity Building of Field Staff

Train and mentor community health workers, animators, and volunteers on early identification, basic counseling skills, and referral processes. Provide supportive supervision to frontline staff to ensure quality and consistency in community-level interventions.
5. Program Implementation & Monitoring

Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring mental health program activities within the assigned area. Maintain detailed case records and ensure data quality for program reporting. Participate in case review meetings and program evaluations to inform improvements in service delivery.
6. Stakeholder Liaison

Build and maintain strong relationships with local health authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Represent the program in community meetings, health camps, and multi-stakeholder forums.

Required Qualifications:



MSW (Psychiatry) Minimum 5 years of experience in mental health service delivery, preferably in community or primary healthcare settings. Strong training and facilitation skills.
Working proficiency in Kannada and Hindi.

Strong documentation skills. Strong organisational, communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills Good in using Microsoft Office applications (MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel)

Remuneration - Salary offered will be in the range of INR 60,000, based on experience
