The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. Four of our branches have been consistently ranked amongst top 15 schools in the country.

In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.

In this context, we would be interested in recruiting suitable candidates for the position of PRT English to teach English to students in Classes 1 to 5. The selected candidate will impart foundational English language skills -- reading, writing, listening and speaking -- help build strong literacy and comprehension, foster love for reading and language, and support holistic development of young learners.

Roles & Responsibilities

Plan and prepare age?appropriate lesson plans, teaching aids/materials, and resources for primary-level English classes (Classes 1-5). Teach English -- basics of reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, listening and speaking -- in an interactive and child?friendly manner. Use engaging methods (stories, games, songs, activities) suitable for young children to build interest and foundational language skills. Assign classwork and homework, conduct regular assessments (oral and written), monitor progress, and provide feedback. Maintain records: attendance, academic progress, language development, behaviour and classroom participation. Provide individual support / remedial help for students needing extra assistance. Maintain a safe, supportive, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning for young children. Encourage reading habits, creativity, and participation -- e.g. story?telling sessions, reading clubs, basic writing exercises, recitations, language games, etc.
