Job Summary
A Primary Science Teacher (PRT - Science) is responsible for delivering the science curriculum to students in the primary grades (typically classes I-V), fostering curiosity, scientific thinking, and foundational knowledge of scientific concepts. The role includes lesson planning, assessment, classroom management, and creating a supportive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Deliver high-quality science lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
Use age-appropriate instructional strategies to explain basic science concepts (plants, animals, matter, energy, environment, human body, weather, etc.).
Plan and prepare daily lessons with clear learning objectives.
Encourage hands-on activities, experiments, practical demonstrations, and inquiry-based learning where appropriate.
Integrate technology and multimedia effectively into lessons.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
Classroom Environment
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom culture.
Maintain discipline, student engagement, and safety especially during practical activities.
Organize and maintain science resources, materials, and learning aids.
Assessment & Feedback
Develop and administer formative and summative assessments (quizzes, oral questions, worksheets, projects).
Record and monitor student progress.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to students.
Communicate student progress to parents/guardians during parent-teacher meetings.
Professionalism & Collaboration
Collaborate with other teachers and departments to integrate science across subjects.
Attend faculty meetings, training, and professional development workshops.
Contribute to school activities, science fairs, exhibitions, and projects.
Follow school policies, procedures, code of conduct, and safety guidelines.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed.) with specialization or strong focus in Science*.
Bachelor's degree in Science (B.Sc.) is preferred.
Teaching certification/license as required by local/state educational authorities.
Proven experience in primary teaching (internships/teaching practice preferred).
