Job Description

Role Summary



The Proposal & Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing technical & commercial proposals, costing, BOQs, tender documentation, and coordinating with internal teams to deliver accurate project estimates. The role involves understanding client requirements, product specifications, site conditions, and providing timely quotations to support sales and project execution.

Key Responsibilities1. Proposal Development



Prepare technical & commercial proposals as per client RFQs / tenders. Study drawings, specifications, data sheets, and scope documents. Prepare compliance statements and solution descriptions. Create proposal documentation, product selection sheets, and costing sheets.

2. Estimation & Costing



Calculate material cost, fabrication cost, manpower cost, and overheads. Prepare BOQ, costing sheets, process calculations (if needed). Evaluate suppliers/subcontractors and take quotations for pricing inputs. Optimize estimates to improve competitiveness without compromising quality.

3. Technical Evaluation



Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, equipment layouts. Understand product designs (FRP equipment / mechanical / process equipment). Support sales team with technical clarifications and value additions.

4. Coordination



Work closely with Design, Production, and Purchase teams for cost validation. Communicate with clients for technical queries, missing info, or revisions. Ensure proposals meet deadlines and follow company standards.

5. Documentation & Reporting



Maintain proposal records, costing sheets, and enquiry trackers. Update CRM or internal database with proposal status. Provide weekly/monthly reports on quotations submitted vs. won.

Required Skills



Strong understanding of mechanical / chemical / process engineering. Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, fabrication drawings. Advanced skills in MS Excel, costing tools, and proposal templates. Good communication & technical writing abilities. Knowledge of FRP equipment / tanks / scrubbers / chemical equipment (optional--can be customized).

Qualifications



Diploma / BE in Mechanical / Chemical / Production Engineering. 2-8 years of experience in proposal, estimation, costing, or tendering. Experience in manufacturing, EPC, chemical equipment, or FRP industry preferred.
