Job Summary
The Property Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the hostel. This includes managing staff, ensuring a safe and clean living environment, handling resident issues, maintaining occupancy, and coordinating maintenance and vendor services. The role requires strong people management, operational discipline, and a hands-on approach.
Key Responsibilities Property Management
Oversee daily hostel operations and ensure smooth functioning of the property
Ensure compliance with hostel policies, SOPs, and safety standards
Conduct regular property inspections for cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance
Coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, and vendor services
Resident Management
Handle resident onboarding, check-ins, and check-outs
Address resident complaints, disputes, and escalation issues promptly
Ensure house rules and discipline are followed
Maintain a positive living environment and resolve conflicts effectively
Staff & Housekeeping Management
Supervise housekeeping, security, and support staff
Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing
Train staff on service standards, safety, and emergency procedures
Monitor staff attendance and performance
Safety, Security & Compliance
Ensure CCTV, access control, fire safety, and emergency systems are functional
Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety drills
Maintain incident logs and compliance records
Financial & Administrative Duties
Monitor occupancy levels and report vacancies
Assist with rent collection coordination and basic billing support
Track expenses related to maintenance and operations
Maintain records, registers, and daily reports
Vendor & Asset Management
Coordinate with vendors for cleaning, maintenance, pest control, and security
Monitor vendor performance and service quality
Maintain asset inventory and prevent misuse or damage
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred (Hospitality, Management, or related field)
2-5 years of experience in hostel, PG, hotel, or residential property management
Strong communication and conflict-handling skills
Ability to manage staff and residents with firmness and empathy
Basic computer skills (Excel, email, property management systems)
Willingness to stay on-site or be available on-call if required
