Job Description

Position: Sr. Engineer / Asst. Manager, Projects Department

Projects Location: Chennai and Vadodara Purpose of the Job (Contribution by this job to the organisation)

This position involves identifying steel fabricators, negotiate with them, follow up with them and ensure the job is executed as per plan. If required, develop new fabricators in and around Chennai / Vadodara.

Timely delivery to customer. Broad Role & Responsibility (State the role this job plays in the organisation)

1. Understanding project delivery requirements and developing time schedules to meet them.

2. Analyze and plan execution of jobs.

3. Negotiating with vendors and contractors to secure the best prices.

4. Monitoring and tracking project progress and updating data in the prescribed excel sheets.

5. Attending and scheduling meetings as required.

6. Understanding and meeting all contract requirements.

7. Communicating with managers, supervisors, and the rest of the team.

8. Analyzing technical drawings and providing material and cost estimates.

9. Ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budgets.

10. Team management: Motivate and train the team personnel involved in the effective implementation of the QMS. Lead continual improvement initiatives along with the team.

Knowledge & Skills (Professional Knowledge & skill required to perform this job)

Essential Knowledge: Knowledge of metals (mainly various grades of steel).

Knowledge of welding process:

Knowledge of acceptance criteria.

Cost calculation

Vendor evaluation.

Desired Knowledge:

NMEJ & Damper operation

Competency (Competencies required to perform this job effectively - Organisation core competency)

Functional:

Plan and ensure jobs are offloaded to fabricators on time.

Plan the execute job completion on time.

Understand fabrication costing for negotiation with fabricators.

Addressing rework given by QC team and educate fabricator not to repeat such mistakes.

Behavioural:

Amiable - ability to get work done from functional colleagues

Attention to detail (especially in product quality)

Experience (Minimum professional exp. Required to perform the job)

8 - 10 years in similar industry / product.

Preferred Industry

Industrial Dampers / Expansion Joints / Light Engineering / Ducting / Fan Manufacturers / Boiler Manufacturers / Pumps / Valves

Other Requirements (Any other relevant & important element of the job)

CTC: Rs. 5 - 7.5 Lacs per annum CTC.
