Mission : As a Project Leader - Rocvolt, you will lead the mechanical design and Integration activities for Battery Packs from concept generation to prototype testing and production implementation. Your expertise will contribute to the
advancement of battery technology, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of battery systems. Epiroc is currently on a mission to accelerate the transition to zero-emission technology. On this role you will be working very closely with our Sweden Orebro team in various Battery pack development Projects.

We are now looking for an experienced and qualified candidate with the main mission to work as Project Leader - Rockvolt team.

Your main responsibilities in this role will be:

  • Design, Develop and Lead the mechanical design activities of battery pack systems and components, ensure the structural integrity and vibration resistance of pack enclosures, Integrate the battery pack sub systems like thermal management, Main electronics, and other battery safety systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, thermal and control system team to develop innovative battery pack solutions.
  • Perform feasibility studies and provide technical assessments to evaluate the suitability of different design concepts for battery pack applications.
  • Conduct design reviews and Brainstorming sessions to evaluate concepts.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Develop and maintain design guidelines, standards, and best practices for battery pack mechanical design.
  • Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure compliance with battery regulatory standards and safety requirements.
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation to support the manufacturing and assembly of battery packs.
  • Quality review the engineering drawings and DFMA aspects of designs
  • Prepare BOM checklist and manage production CN releases.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to select appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes for battery pack production.
  • Oversee prototype fabrication and testing, and analyze test data to identify design issues and implement necessary modifications.
  • Support the transition of designs from prototype to production, addressing any design-related issues and ensuring smooth production ramp-up.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in battery pack design, and apply them to enhance product performance and efficiency.
Competence & Educational Qualification Requirement:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Master\'s degree is a plus.
  • Proven 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably from off highway/Heavy machinery industry
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality designs and documentation.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard practices for design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Heavy machinery product knowledge with focus on components and sub-systems
  • Good project management knowledge
  • Basic people management knowledge
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in guiding and mentoring juniors.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CREO, or similar) and experience with PLM engineering tools (e.g., Teamcenter, or similar)
