Position Overview:

We are seeking a professional and experienced Project Estimator to join our interior design team. Your responsibilities will include preparation and presentation of project estimation. The person seeking the position is solely responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, and blueprints to calculate the estimated cost of a project by determining the required materials, labour, and equipment, while also assessing potential risks, and presenting a detailed cost breakdown to project managers to inform decision-making and bidding processes; essentially, they act as the financial analyst for a project, ensuring accurate cost projections throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Reviewing project documents:

Thoroughly studying project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope of work and potential challenges.

Cost analysis:

Researching and gathering cost data for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and other relevant factors.

Estimating labor hours:

Calculating the time required to complete tasks based on project complexity and crew size.

Material quantity take-off:

Accurately measuring and calculating the amount of materials needed for the project.

Risk assessment:

Identifying potential risks and contingencies that could impact project costs.

Developing cost breakdowns:

Presenting a detailed breakdown of estimated project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and profit margins.

Preparing proposals:

Contributing to the creation of client proposals by providing accurate cost estimates.

Collaboration with stakeholders:

Working closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to gather information and clarify project requirements.

Software proficiency:

Utilizing estimating software to efficiently calculate costs and generate reports.

Budget monitoring:

Tracking project costs during construction to identify any deviations from the initial estimate.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirement:

Any bachelor's degree in a relevant field like construction management or civil engineering, strong analytical and mathematical skills, proficiency in estimation software, detailed understanding of construction processes and terminology, excellent communication skills, and prior experience in construction or project management.

Experience:

1 to 3 years in relevant field. Expertise in cost estimation software like CostX, Buildsoft, or similar tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and calculations Understanding of project management tools. Ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced work environment.
