Project Engineer at ZeroNorth

The Project Engineer will be a key technical resource responsible for the post-onboarding and deployment health, maintenance, and technical troubleshooting of our SMARTShip/Industrial IoT systems.


This role requires a strong foundation in industrial control systems, network protocols, and excellent stakeholder communication to ensure high system uptime and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities:

Perform Level 2 and Level 3 troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for complex electronic, control, and system integration issues post-installation Maintain and troubleshoot communication between PLCs, DAQ systems, and OPC servers, resolving issues related to industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, and OPC. Conduct regular system health checks, software and firmware updates, and configuration management to ensure system uptime, stability, and reliability. Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, providing both remote and onsite support for operational and performance-related issues. Work closely with software development and engineering teams to investigate, escalate, and resolve complex integration or performance issues. Communicate issue status, impact, and resolution timelines clearly to both internal stakeholders and customers during critical incidents. Apply in-depth knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS) to diagnose and resolve field-level instrumentation and automation issues. Support integration between IT and OT environments, ensuring secure network implementation and reliable connectivity for industrial field devices.

Your profile:

Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical (EEE/ECE/EIE), or an equivalent engineering discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience in field service, technical support, or maintenance engineering roles. Strong working knowledge of PLCs and SCADA/DCS systems. Hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, and OPC. Proficient in troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for electrical, control, and automation systems. Skilled in system diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and configuration management. Ability to interact effectively with customers and cross-functional teams. Good written and verbal communication skills.
