Role Summary
The Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for engineering, coordination, and execution of mechanical works in EPC Oil & Gas projects. The role covers equipment design, piping, vendor coordination, site support, and ensuring compliance with international and statutory codes.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Design
Prepare and review mechanical deliverables including:
P&IDs, Piping Layouts, GA drawings
Equipment data sheets and specifications
Mechanical calculations (pump sizing, pipe sizing, pressure drop, etc.)
Support selection and sizing of mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, tanks, and piping systems.
Review vendor drawings, technical documents, QAPs, and compliance with specifications.
Project Execution
Coordinate with process, piping, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure integrated engineering.
Track engineering deliverables as per project schedule.
Support project planning, manpower loading, and material take-offs (MTOs).
Assist in preparation of project schedules and cost estimates.
Procurement & Vendor Support
Prepare RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and vendor clarifications.
Participate in technical meetings with vendors and resolve engineering queries.
Review inspection and test plans (ITPs) and factory acceptance test (FAT) requirements.
Site & Construction Support
Visit project sites for erection, piping fabrication, hydrotesting, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
Resolve site technical issues and coordinate engineering clarifications.
Support mechanical erection, alignment, welding, NDT, and testing activities.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards:
ASME, API, ANSI, IS, OISD, PESO, ASTM.
Participate in HAZOP, design reviews, safety audits, and inspections.
Maintain documentation for quality control, safety, and statutory approvals.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare project progress reports, engineering status reports, and technical summaries.
Maintain engineering drawings, vendor documents, and site records.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in
Mechanical Engineering

Minimum 2 years
experience in EPC projects in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Process Plants.
Strong understanding of mechanical design, piping systems, and rotating & static equipment.
Experience in site execution and vendor coordination.
Technical Skills
AutoCAD (mandatory)
Knowledge of MS Project / Primavera (preferred)
Familiarity with international engineering standards and codes (ASME, API, OISD, PESO, IS, ANSI)
Basic knowledge of stress analysis and piping design is an advantage.
