The Project Manager (Tank) will oversee end-to-end activities related to the fabrication, erection, and commissioning of storage tanks in mechanical construction projects. The role involves project planning, resource management, technical coordination, quality assurance, and ensuring timely project execution as per safety and client standards.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, and manage tank fabrication and erection projects from initiation to completion.
Review project drawings, technical specifications, and client requirements.
Coordinate with design, procurement, QA/QC, safety, and site execution teams.
Monitor fabrication activities: plate cutting, rolling, welding, NDT, hydro test, and finishing.
Manage onsite activities: shell erection, roof structure installation, nozzle fit-up, painting/coating, etc.
Ensure compliance with API 650 / API 653 / ASME and project standards.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports.
Control project budgets, timelines, manpower, and materials.
Conduct project review meetings with clients and internal teams.
Address technical issues, deviations, and provide engineering solutions.
Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
Lead commissioning and handover activities as per client acceptance criteria.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of tank fabrication and erection processes.
Experience with API 650 / API 620 standards.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and BOQs.
Excellent project planning, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Project / Primavera (preferred).
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Qualifications
Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
3-10 years of experience in tank fabrication and mechanical construction projects.
