About Role:
Dedicated
Project Associate- Forestry
will provide knowledge support towards the restoration of mangrove forests. The candidate will manage and implement climate- adaptive restoration practices/ initiatives within designated clusters. The person will have experience in technically handling forest restoration projects in rural landscapes. The person should demonstrate the capabilities to multitask, coordinate projects, and provide field support. The role demands working with forest department officials and local communities with frequent travel on the field to identify scope areas for undertaking ecosystem restoration activities with a focus on the Mangrove ecosystem with an EbA and all-inclusive approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing the on-ground execution of degraded mangrove ecosystem restoration projects across the assigned cluster, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
Engaging with local communities dependent on forests to encourage sustainable resource utilisation practices and bring in active participation from local communities in the proposed initiatives.
Providing comprehensive technical guidance on undertaking mangrove restoration activities at identified sites in close coordination with the ground staff of the Forest Department.
Organising and conducting technical training sessions, workshops, and demonstrations on best practices in the forestry sector for local communities.
Monitoring project progress through scientifically validated technical parameters, collecting field-level data, and preparing timely reports for consideration by the higher management, striving towards project delivery and achievement of assigned targets.
Collaborating with local authorities, Forest departments, NGOs and other key partners to ensure effective project delivery. Sustainability Initiatives: Promote responsible and sustainable forest resource utilisation methods to ensure sustained and tangible long-term environmental benefits.
Assisting in logistics, field visits of higher officials/ team-mates, and performing administrative duties as required to keep projects functioning smoothly.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in forestry science, or a closely related field.
2-3 years of established field-level experience in mangrove restoration and working in rural setup.
Proper knowledge of coastal and marine biota with a focus on mangrove ecosystem conservation.
Fluency in local language (Marathi), with working knowledge of Hindi and English
