Program Manager – Component & Sub Systems

Year    TN, IN, India

Job Description

Overview:

The Program Manager for Components & Sub-Systems is responsible for the full execution and delivery of a defined portion of a client product or program -- such as a hardware component, subsystem, software module, or technical workstream. This role ensures that assigned scope meets all requirements for timing, quality, cost, and readiness before integration into the broader program.

This position requires strong leadership, cross-functional coordination, and disciplined execution. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to independently drive outcomes within their scope while collaborating closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Product, and the Senior Program Manager. This role carries full accountability for execution of the assigned subsystem, including timing, quality, and readiness for integration into the full program. This role may include ownership of a software-focused workstream, requiring close coordination with software engineering teams to ensure integration readiness, testing coverage, and software release alignment.
Responsibilities:
Own end-to-end execution for an assigned component, subsystem, or workstream, from requirements alignment through production launch readiness. Develop and manage the detailed program plan for owned scope, including schedules, milestones, risks, dependencies, and mitigation actions. Ensure Engineering-owned technical deliverables for the component/subsystem are completed on time and meet program requirements, while supporting clarity, tracking, and issue resolution. The PM ensures delivery but does not own technical content or engineering decision-making. Coordinate interface definition and alignment with dependent or upstream/downstream subsystems to ensure seamless integration. Maintain rigorous tracking of progress, risks, issues, and dependencies; drive timely cross-functional actions to stay on schedule. Translate customer, market, and platform requirements into clear objectives and workstream deliverables. Partner with Supply Chain to support procurement readiness, supplier engagement, long-lead component planning, and launch-critical material availability. Work with Operations and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure build readiness, coordinate validation activities, and support integration into production processes. Provide structured, data-driven status updates for owned scope during Program Reviews, Stage-Gates, and leadership syncs. Maintain accurate program documentation, dashboards, and communication tools to ensure visibility and alignment. Escalate risks quickly with recommended options for resolution; support decision-making with well-structured data. Model strong leadership, accountability, and proactive problem-solving consistent with Client program management expectations. Proactively challenge assumptions and drive clarity in ambiguous or conflicting situations. Collaborate closely with global and regional Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.

Qualifications:
3-7 years of experience in Program or Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or similar roles managing technical deliverables or workstreams. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive execution across hardware and/or software development environments. Experience with component-level or subsystem-level planning, procurement, supplier coordination, and production readiness preferred. Strong schedule management, risk management, and communication skills. Ability to operate with ownership and independence while maintaining alignment with the broader program organization. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and complex dependencies. Ability to work closely with global teams across time zones, ensuring seamless communication and alignment. Experience working within global engineering organizations and/or multinational product development environments. Proven ability to lead without direct authority and drive cross-functional outcomes. Understanding of embedded systems, APIs, and cross-component software interactions preferred. Experience managing software or firmware development workstreams, including familiarity with SDLC, backlog management, software integration, and validation processes. Ability to coordinate with software engineering teams across Agile frameworks and ensure alignment between software deliverables and overall program milestones. Certifications (PMP, Agile, Lean) a plus but not required.

Experience:

3 to 7 years
