Currently, over 450 researchers are working with WRI India in our offices in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru and project locations across the country.Climate, Economics & Finance Program OverviewAt WRI India's Climate, Economics & Finance (CEF) Program, we focus on integrated solutions to enable India's low carbon transition while ensuring that the transition is equitable and just for its people and protects natural resources. We seek to achieve impact at scale through applied research, frameworks, tools, partnerships with key stakeholders, and ground-level implementation.Position Overview:The CEF Program at WRI India is looking for a Program Associate who will help develop a comprehensive GHG emissions inventory and emissions reduction scenario-building tool at different governance levels. We ask that you have strong analytical skills, experience in data collection and analysis, an understanding of climate change mitigation strategies across multiple sectors, and excellent partner engagement and capacity-building abilities.How your day will unfold:xc2xb7 Develop a emission reduction scenario-building tool, which could be used at multiple governance tiers.xc2xb7 Develop a GHG inventory and collect primary and secondary data for important economic sectors like AFOLU, Energy, IPPU, and Waste following the internationally accepted standards from credible sources, ensuring data accuracy through rigorous validation and verification processes.xc2xb7 Develop multiple GHG emissions reduction scenarios and suggest mitigation strategies considering feasibility, viability, and impacts. Use modeling tools and develop sectoral budgets for different mitigation approaches.xc2xb7 Identify partners and engage throughout the emissions profiling and modeling process.xc2xb7 Conduct dialogues and workshops to gather data and insights, discuss findings and scenarios, and gather feedback.xc2xb7 Conduct workshops to build capacity for local partners on GHG calculations and low-carbon strategies.xc2xb7 Produce detailed reports and presentations to share findings as well as recommendations.Qualifications and Requirements we seek:xc2xb7 Postgraduate degree in environmental/ climate science, economics, public policy, engineering, statistics, environmental planning, or related subjects.xc2xb7 Credible understanding of emission reduction methodologies per internationally accepted standards such as 2006 IPCC guidelines for national GHG inventories, Global Protocol for Communities.xc2xb7 Minimum 2-4 years of full-time work experience in climate mitigation research roles related to one or more mitigation and scenario-building tools or any other emissions inventory tools or related topics.xc2xb7 Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, as well as data collection and familiarity with Gram Panchayat, District, ULBs State, National and International databases.xc2xb7 Demonstrated experience engaging with diverse partners, including government, industry, and civil society.xc2xb7 Experience developing capacity-building workshops or training programs is highly desirable.xc2xb7 Willingness to travel to project locations and support us with workshops and partner consultations.xc2xb7 Good written and communication skills.Skills:xc2xb7 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.xc2xb7 Excellent quantitative and qualitative research skills.xc2xb7 Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, statistical software).xc2xb7 Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.xc2xb7 Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.xc2xb7 Strong organizational and time management skills.Personal Attributes:xc2xb7 Proactive, results-oriented and enthusiastic team player with an interest in climate mitigation policy issues in India.xc2xb7 Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.xc2xb7 Excellent interpersonal skills.xc2xb7 High level of professionalism and ethical conduct.Salary and Benefits: 950000-1250000 INR CTC Per annumSalary shall be commensurate with experience and skills.
