Position Overview
The Quality Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet specified quality standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements. This role involves comprehensive inspection, testing, and documentation of construction processes to maintain the highest standards of quality assurance in commercial real estate projects.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Assurance
Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures for construction projects
Conduct comprehensive inspections of construction work at various stages
Monitor compliance with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards
Perform quality audits and assessments of construction activities
Ensure adherence to safety regulations and building codes
Testing & Inspection
Coordinate and supervise material testing (concrete, steel, soil, etc.)
Review and approve test results and inspection reports
Monitor construction methods and workmanship quality
Conduct pre-delivery inspections and punch list creation
Verify compliance with structural and architectural specifications
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare detailed quality control reports and documentation
Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions
Generate non-conformance reports (NCRs) and track resolution
Document quality metrics and performance indicators
Coordinate with regulatory authorities for inspections and approvals
Project Coordination
Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and consultants
Review construction drawings and specifications for quality requirements
Participate in project meetings and quality review sessions
Provide technical guidance to construction teams
Interface with clients on quality-related matters
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering OR Diploma in Civil Engineering from recognized institution
8-10 years of progressive experience in quality control and quality assurance
Extensive experience in building construction projects (commercial, residential, or mixed-use)
Proven track record in large-scale construction quality management
Technical Expertise
Comprehensive knowledge of building construction processes including:Foundation and structural workConcrete construction and testingSteel fabrication and erectionMEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systemsFinishing works and architectural elements
Deep understanding of construction materials and their properties
Knowledge of construction testing methods and equipment
Standards & Codes Knowledge
Thorough knowledge of local and international building codes
Familiarity with quality standards (ISO 9001, ASTM, IS codes)
Understanding of safety regulations and environmental compliance
Knowledge of BIS, NBC, and other relevant Indian standards
Technical Skills
Proficiency in quality management software and documentation systems
Knowledge of AutoCAD and construction drawing interpretation
Understanding of project management principles
Experience with testing equipment and methodologies
