The role requires expertise in classical Ayurvedic dosage forms (Churna, Vati, Kwath, Asava-Arishta, Taila, Avaleha, Syrups, Capsules, etc.) as well as modern quality standards. The Production Manager will ensure timely, safe, and efficient manufacturing in compliance with AYUSH regulations, GMP norms, and internal SOPs.
Educational Qualifications
Essential:
B.Sc./B. Pharma (Ayurveda)
Preferred:
Additional diploma/certification in GMP, Quality Management, or Production Management
Familiarity with ERP/Pharma production software
Experience Required
Minimum
5-7 years
of relevant experience in Ayurvedic / Herbal / Nutraceutical production
Proven track record of handling medium to large-scale GMP-compliant production units
Experience in managing team size of 15-25 workers, including pharmacists, operators, and helpers
Key Responsibilities
1.
Production Planning & Execution
Develop and implement daily/weekly/monthly production plans in alignment with sales forecasts and inventory needs.
Supervise the preparation and execution of Master Formula Records (MFR) and Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR).
Monitor machine utilization, manpower allocation, and production efficiency.
Coordinate with the purchase team for timely availability of raw materials, excipients, and packaging supplies.

Lead internal and external audits; prepare compliance reports and CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Action).
Implement and update SOPs for every stage of production.

Quality & Process Control
Work closely with QC (Quality Control) and QA (Quality Assurance) teams for in-process checks, yield analysis, and product release.
Maintain batch consistency, minimize deviations, and resolve technical issues promptly.
Validate production equipment and processes as per GMP norms.

Team Leadership & Training
Supervise production supervisors, machine operators, helpers, and pharmacists.
Train team members on SOPs, GMP, safety, and operational efficiency.
Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Documentation & Reporting
Maintain all production-related documents, logs, and registers in compliance with statutory and internal norms.
Submit MIS (Management Information System) reports on production status, yield, and wastage.
Coordinate with stores, dispatch, QA, and R&D teams for smooth operations.
6.
Continuous Improvement
Introduce innovative methods to improve production yield and reduce wastage.
Suggest automation/machinery upgrades where feasible.
Implement lean manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma practices to optimize processes.
Key Skills Required
Deep knowledge of Ayurvedic formulations and processes (Churna, Vati, Taila, Avaleha, Asava-Arishta, etc.)
Strong understanding of herbs, minerals, bhasmas, and traditional formulations.
Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making ability.
Good communication skills in English and Hindi (oral & written).
Familiarity with ERP/production software and MS Office.
