The Engineer - Chain Link and Shearing oversees production operations in the chain link and shearing sections, ensuring quality, adherence to production schedules, and compliance with safety standards. This role supervises operators, coordinates with maintenance for machine setup and repairs, and ensures effective use of both machines and manpower to meet performance targets. Reporting to the Assistant Manager Production, the Executive plays a key role in quality assurance, workflow management, and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Adherence and Coordination:
Implement daily production targets based on schedules, coordinating for both chain link and shearing operations.
Continuously monitor production flow and make adjustments to optimize efficiency and meet production timelines.
Assign operators to chain link and shearing machines based on production demands, balancing resources to maintain productivity.
Ensure maximum machine utilization by minimizing idle time and reallocating resources when necessary.
2. Machine Oversight and Maintenance Coordination:
Oversee the operation of chain link and shearing machines, ensuring correct settings as per product specifications.
Coordinate with Production Supervisor for machine setup requests and collaborate with maintenance technicians to resolve any machine-related issues.
Promptly inform to Production Supervisor and coordinate with technicians for scheduled maintenance, preventive checks, or emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
Ensure smooth communication between operators and maintenance staff for timely resolution of machine issues.
3. Quality Control and Assurance:
Conduct in-process inspections to ensure chain link and sheared products meet specified quality standards.
Perform the final quality checks on finished products, ensuring that they are meeting the specification criteria and address in case of any deviations.
Verify the quality of raw materials for chain link and shearing processes, identifying any material inconsistencies.
Supervise finished goods storage and ensure that products meet packaging requirements based on weight and quality standards.
4. Reporting and Documentation:
Document the production output, machine performance, and issues by maintaining the production logs accurately.
Update ERP systems with relevant data on production, inventory, and scrap, ensuring consistent record-keeping for tracking and analysis.
Record and report scrap quantities, analyse the trend to minimize waste and improve production efficiency.
Implement process improvements to reduce scrap rates and ensure optimal resource usage.
5. Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all operators comply with established safety standards, including PPE use and machine handling procedures.
Conduct regular safety briefings to reinforce compliance and promote a safe work environment in the chain link and shearing sections.
Ensure production activities align with company policies and industry regulations, addressing compliance issues as needed.
Key Qualification:
Education: Diploma or a Graduate Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
Experience:
o 0 - 1 year in a production or supervisory role for graduates, ideally in chain link and/or shearing operations.
o 3+ years with similar experience for diploma holders in the same field.
Certification: Quality Control, Lean Manufacturing, or Safety practices are advantageous.
