who can independently manage the day-to-day operations of our marine engineering and fabrication unit. The ideal candidate must have strong leadership capabilities, hands-on technical knowledge, and extensive experience in ship repair, steel fabrication, and production management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Workshop Management
Independently oversee all production activities within the workshop and projects.
Plan, allocate and monitor daily tasks for fabrication, machining, and welding teams.
Ensure timely completion of jobs with required quality and safety standards.
Review drawings, material specifications, and job requirements before execution.
Monitor machine utilization, manpower efficiency, and workflow optimization.
2. Ship Repair Coordination
Handle onboard ship repair jobs including steel renewal, mechanical works, and outfitting.
Coordinate with ship staff, CSL officers, surveyors, and operations team for smooth job execution.
Conduct site inspections, prepare work plans, and ensure timely mobilization of manpower and tools.
3. Liaison & Inter-department Coordination
Coordinate with the
purchase department
for timely procurement of materials, consumables, and tools.
Follow up with
stores
for material availability, stock updates, and issue slips.
Work closely with the
operations/team
to plan job schedules and resource requirements.
Attend technical meetings, discuss job scopes, and provide production/technical inputs.
4. Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all works comply with company standards, class requirements, and safety procedures.
Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure proper use of PPE and safety protocols.
Monitor quality checks at all stages of fabrication and ship repair.
5. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily and weekly progress reports.
Maintain job cards, timesheets, material consumption records, and production logs.
Assist management in planning future projects, costing, and resource forecasting.
Desired Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge in steel fabrication, welding processes, machining, mechanical repairs, and ship repair activities.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and ship building or ship repair specifications.
Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Good coordination and follow-up skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Eligibility
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
(mandatory).
Minimum 10 - 15 years of experience
in marine engineering, ship repair, or heavy fabrication industry.
Capable of independently handling all workshop and production activities.
Salary Package
?35,000 - ? 45,000 per month
(based on experience & performance).
