Job Summary
The Production Supervisor - Furniture is responsible for overseeing daily production activities in the furniture manufacturing unit. The role ensures timely production, quality compliance, efficient manpower utilization, machine coordination, and adherence to safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations
Supervise day-to-day furniture production activities (wooden, modular, panel-based, or custom furniture).
Ensure production targets are achieved as per production plan and delivery schedules.
Coordinate with cutting, carpentry, assembly, polishing, finishing, and packing teams.
Monitor machine usage (panel saw, edge bander, CNC, router, etc.).
Quality Control
Ensure furniture production meets approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Identify defects and take corrective actions to reduce rework and wastage.
Coordinate with QC team for inspections and approvals.
Manpower Management
Allocate work to carpenters, machine operators, helpers, and contract labor.
Monitor attendance, productivity, and discipline of shop-floor staff.
Train workers on SOPs, quality standards, and safety practices.
Materials & Inventory
Ensure proper usage of raw materials such as boards, laminates, hardware, adhesives, and accessories.
Coordinate with stores and purchase team for material availability.
Minimize material wastage and report shortages or damages.
Safety & Housekeeping
Ensure compliance with safety norms and proper use of PPE.
Maintain good housekeeping practices on the shop floor (5S).
Report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with design, planning, QC, dispatch, and installation teams.
Prepare daily production reports, manpower reports, and delay analysis.
Support continuous improvement initiatives in productivity and quality.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of furniture manufacturing processes.
Ability to read production drawings and work orders.
Leadership and team-handling skills.
Problem-solving and time management abilities.
Basic computer knowledge (Excel, production reporting).
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
ITI / Diploma / Bachelor's in Mechanical / Production / Furniture Design (preferred).
Experience:
3-6 years in furniture manufacturing or interior production unit.
Experience in modular furniture, retail interiors, or project-based production is an advantage.
