The Production Specialist II is primarily responsible for transforming XML into PPI products. Responsibilities include content assembly, corrections, transformation, upload to HTML-based learning management system (LMS), and output to print, electronic, or online formats. The specialist will interpret and apply markup (XML/HTML) using tools like OWA/Oxygen XML Editor, ensuring accurate content assembly and optimal output. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting errors, running scripts on files to facilitate processes, and documentation of new processes and process changes. The role requires a collaborative individual who can effectively communicate project status and priorities within a team-based, agile environment to meet deadlines.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare content for upload to the online learning management system (LMS).
Output or transform content to print, online, and electronic formats.
Accurately interpret markup and implement changes following best coding practices.
Conduct QA to ensure product deliverables match described requirements.
Proactively troubleshoot and validate issues arising in XML and HTML source content.
Write, test, run, and maintain scripts on XML and HTML files.
Assemble products in XML using content maps or written instructions.
Diplomatically and effectively communicate with other team members regarding priorities, project status, and other aspects of work.
Work within the production team-based approach, featuring standups and sprints, to communicate project status and meet established deadlines.
Adapt AI technologies and make continuous improvements to processes and products.
Hybrid Schedule: 3 days remote / 2 days in office
30-day notification period preferred
Minimum Qualifications
BA or BS or equivalent
Minimum of four (4) years of experience working in HTML and XML
Minimum one (1) year of experience in working with content stored in a content management system (CMS)
Technical Competencies
Demonstrated proficiency in
XML (DocBook a plus)
HTML
Oxygen or other XML/HTML editor
Content management systems
Scripting languages
Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat); ability to make art corrections a plus
MathType, MathML
JIRA/Confluence experience a plus
Skills and Abilities
Direct experience and knowledge of HTML and XML (preferably DocBook)
Familiarity with content management and version control systems
Ability to troubleshoot issues and solve problems
Ability to juggle competing deadlines and handle a large volume of work quickly and accurately
Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
Working knowledge of print, electronic, and online production
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desire to learn, adapt and grow, and embrace new technologies to accommodate team/process needs
Python or other scripting skills a big plus
Preferred Qualifications
Special consideration given for familiarity with the OWA/Alfresco platforms.
