is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling the production plan to ensure timely completion of manufacturing orders in line with customer delivery schedules. The role requires close coordination with departments such as stores, purchase, quality, and dispatch to ensure optimal utilization of resources and adherence to production targets.
Key Responsibilities:1. Production Planning & Scheduling
Prepare
daily, weekly, and monthly production plans
based on sales orders and customer delivery commitments.
Review
material availability, machine capacity, and manpower
before scheduling production.
Create and release
job orders
in the ERP / JobBoss system.
Track progress of work orders and adjust schedules as needed to meet deadlines.
2. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with
purchase and stores
teams for timely material availability.
Work closely with
quality and maintenance
teams to avoid downtime or quality-related delays.
Communicate production priorities and changes to supervisors and shop-floor teams.
Provide daily and weekly updates to management on plan adherence.
3. Monitoring & Control
Monitor
WIP (Work In Progress)
and ensure smooth flow of materials between departments.
Identify and address
bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and process delays
proactively.
Analyze plan vs. actual performance and suggest corrective actions.
Maintain records of
production status, delays, rework, and efficiency metrics
.
4. Data Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate data on production orders, inventory, and lead times in ERP.
Generate
production performance, utilization, and forecast reports
for management.
Assist in demand forecasting and capacity planning for upcoming months.
5. Process Improvement
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S).
Support optimization of workflow, process sequencing, and resource allocation.
Recommend measures to improve
productivity, efficiency, and on-time delivery
.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
3-7 years of experience in
production planning and control (PPC)
in a manufacturing or foundry environment.
Strong knowledge of
ERP / JobBoss / SAP
systems and production scheduling tools.
Good understanding of manufacturing processes (casting, machining, assembly, etc.).
Analytical thinking and data interpretation skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
Proficiency in MS Excel and production reporting.
