The Production and Preventive Maintenance Officer is responsible for supporting efficient and hygienic production operations by ensuring proper maintenance and smooth functioning of all food processing equipment. The role involves executing preventive maintenance programs, assisting in production planning and monitoring, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:Production Operations:
Assist in daily production operations to achieve output, quality, and safety targets.
Monitor equipment performance and promptly report abnormalities or potential failures.
Coordinate with production supervisors to ensure smooth process flow and minimize bottlenecks.
Maintain accurate production and downtime records for performance tracking and reporting.
Support line changeovers, equipment cleaning, and sanitation as per hygiene requirements.
Ensure compliance with
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
and
HACCP
standards at all times.
Preventive Maintenance:
Implement and monitor
Preventive Maintenance (PM)
schedules for all processing and packaging equipment.
Carry out routine inspections, lubrication, and adjustments of machinery to prevent breakdowns.
Support troubleshooting and minor repairs of mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic systems.
Maintain detailed maintenance logs and update equipment service history records.
Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and ensuring availability of critical components.
Coordinate with external service providers for specialized maintenance tasks or equipment calibration.
Safety, Quality & Compliance:
Follow all
food safety
,
occupational health
, and
environmental
policies.
Ensure strict adherence to
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
and safety procedures during maintenance activities.
Support quality and maintenance audits (e.g., ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC).
Report and assist in investigating equipment-related deviations affecting product quality or safety.
Continuous Improvement:
Suggest improvements to enhance equipment efficiency, reduce downtime, and save energy.
Participate in
root cause analysis (RCA)
and corrective action initiatives.
Support the implementation of
5S
and
Lean Manufacturing
practices within production areas.
Participate in training programs to develop technical and operational skills.
