Position Overview:
The
Production Manager - Precision Slitting Division
will be responsible for leading and managing the complete production operations of the precision slitting lines handling
steel, copper, aluminum alloys, and composite materials
. The role requires hands-on experience in
high-precision slitting
,
shop floor management
, and
lean manufacturing principles
to achieve production efficiency, quality, and timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Execution
Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet customer requirements and dispatch timelines.
Manage 10-12 precision slitting machines and a team of around 30 production operators and technicians.
Ensure full utilization of 8 slitting lines, maintaining optimum productivity and minimal downtime.
Coordinate with the planning and sales teams to align production with order priorities and machine capacity.
Review production reports and take corrective actions to meet targets and reduce rejections.
2. Quality & Precision Management
Ensure all slitting operations are carried out within specified
close tolerances
and
high-quality standards
.
Oversee quality checks during and after production for dimensional accuracy, edge finish, burr-free slits, and surface quality.
Implement stringent quality assurance and inspection systems to maintain customer satisfaction and minimize claims.
3. Lean Manufacturing & Process Optimization
Apply
Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement
practices on the shop floor.
Optimize production workflow, material movement, and setup times to improve throughput and reduce waste.
Lead daily production meetings, performance reviews, and root cause analysis for process deviations.
4. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with the
Sales and Planning Teams
for order scheduling, customer coordination, and material readiness.
Coordinate with the
Maintenance Department
for preventive and predictive maintenance of slitting lines and equipment.
Ensure smooth communication across shifts, departments, and with the management team.
5. Shop Floor & Workforce Management
Supervise and motivate shop floor personnel for achieving production, quality, and safety goals.
Manage workforce allocation, attendance, skill development, and performance monitoring.
Ensure strict compliance with workplace safety, housekeeping, and discipline standards.
6. Maintenance & Equipment Upkeep
Maintain all slitting lines, shearing machines, and auxiliary equipment in excellent working condition.
Plan preventive maintenance schedules to avoid breakdowns and downtime.
Coordinate with vendors and internal maintenance teams for spare parts management and machine calibration.
7. Dispatch, Packing & Logistics Coordination
Oversee finished goods handling, precision packing, labeling, and dispatches as per customer specifications.
Ensure accurate documentation and coordination with the logistics team for timely dispatches.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Qualification:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering or equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum 7-10 years in
production management of precision slitting and shearing operations
.
Must have hands-on experience handling
steel, copper, aluminum, and alloy materials
.
Strong knowledge of
close tolerance slitting (0.05 mm and below)
, coil handling, and thickness range from thin gauge to medium gauge.
Proven ability in
lean manufacturing
, production planning, and team leadership.
Experience managing multi-machine slitting lines (minimum 8-10 lines) with manpower of 25-35 employees.
Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and production reporting tools.
