The Production Manager will oversee all fabrication and assembly operations in the piping division, ensuring that projects are executed on schedule, within budget, and meet stringent quality and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in piping systems, and the ability to coordinate across departments such as planning, design, QA/QC, and site execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, and supervise day-to-day production activities in the piping fabrication shop.
Ensure adherence to project drawings, WPS, PQR, and relevant ASME/ISO codes.
Allocate manpower, machines, and materials efficiently to meet production targets.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to resolve design or material issues.
Monitor production progress and prepare daily/weekly MIS reports.
Drive continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and safety.
Maintain shop discipline, housekeeping, and ensure adherence to HSE policies.
Oversee fit-up, welding, and assembly processes, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Liaise with QA/QC for inspections, NDT clearances, and documentation.
Control wastage and optimize resource utilization to reduce costs.
Manage subcontractors and ensure timely completion of outsourced activities.
Train and mentor shop supervisors, foremen, and fabrication teams.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of
piping fabrication
, spool assembly, and erection processes.
Knowledge of
ASME, AWS, and API
standards.
Proficiency in reading
isometric and fabrication drawings
.
Hands-on experience with
welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW)
and materials (CS, SS, Alloy).
Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with
production planning, scheduling tools, and ERP systems
.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Qualification & Experience:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
or equivalent.
8-15 years
of experience in piping fabrication, preferably in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Heavy Engineering industries.
Prior experience in a
workshop or project fabrication environment
is essential.
