Job Summary

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all pipe mill production activities to ensure safe operations, high product quality, on-time delivery, and optimal use of resources. The role focuses on productivity, cost control, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations

Plan and manage daily, weekly, and monthly pipe mill production schedules Ensure production targets (output, yield, efficiency) are met Monitor mill performance (forming, welding, sizing, finishing processes) Minimize downtime and coordinate quick resolution of production issues
Quality Control

Ensure pipes meet customer, industry, and internal quality standards Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections, testing, and corrective actions Reduce scrap, rework, and defects through process control
Safety & Compliance

Enforce all safety rules and standard operating procedures (SOPs) Promote a strong safety culture and conduct regular safety meetings Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and company policies
Team Leadership

Lead, train, and supervise production supervisors, operators, and technicians Manage shift planning and manpower allocation Conduct performance evaluations and skill development initiatives
Maintenance & Coordination

Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance Support continuous improvement and TPM / Lean initiatives Work closely with planning, procurement, and logistics teams
Cost & Efficiency

Control production costs (materials, labor, energy) Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Implement process improvements and productivity enhancements
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Production output vs. plan OEE and mill efficiency Scrap and rejection rate Downtime and breakdown frequency Safety incidents (LTI, near misses) On-time delivery performance
QualificationsEducation

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering (Diploma with strong experience may also be considered)*

Experience

5-10 years of experience in pipe/tube mill operations Strong knowledge of ERW / HFW / SAW pipe manufacturing preferred
Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership and people management skills Deep understanding of pipe mill processes and equipment Problem-solving and decision-making ability Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Six Sigma (preferred) Good communication and reporting skills
Work Conditions

Manufacturing / shop-floor environment Shift work as required Exposure to industrial equipment and noise (PPE required)
