The Production Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all production processes at the distillery to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant ethanol production. The role involves overseeing daily operations, optimizing resource utilization, maintaining product quality, and ensuring adherence to environmental and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day production operations of the distillery and ethanol plant.
Ensure production targets are met in terms of quantity, quality, and timelines.
Supervise fermentation, distillation, dehydration, and utilities sections.
Monitor plant performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and utilities departments for smooth plant functioning.
Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and statutory regulations (Pollution Control Board, Excise, etc.).
Plan and monitor raw material (molasses, grain, etc.) consumption and yield efficiency.
Prepare and maintain production records, reports, and MIS data for management review.
Lead and train production staff to maintain high performance and safety standards.
Participate in troubleshooting, shutdown, and startup activities.
Optimize steam, power, and water usage to improve operational efficiency.
Liaise with QA/QC and laboratory teams to ensure consistent product quality.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of distillery and ethanol manufacturing processes (molasses-based or grain-based).
Hands-on experience with fermentation, distillation, and dehydration systems.
Familiarity with DCS/PLC-controlled process systems.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Good understanding of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) practices.
Analytical and problem-solving ability.
Proficiency in MS Office and production reporting tools.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
B.Tech / B.E. in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum
7-12 years
of experience in distillery or ethanol production, with at least
3-5 years in a managerial/supervisory role
.
Preferred:
Experience in both molasses-based and grain-based ethanol plants.
