- Fabrication Production Head1. Position Title:

Fabrication Production Head / Head - Fabrication

2. Department:

Production - Fabrication Division

3. Reporting To:

Plant Head / General Manager - Operations

4. Job Purpose:

To oversee and manage the entire fabrication production operations, including cutting, bending, welding, machining, finishing, and assembly, ensuring adherence to

ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018

standards. Responsible for achieving production targets with high quality, optimal cost, and timely delivery.

5. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Fabrication Production Management

Plan and execute production schedules for

cutting, CNC/laser cutting, bending, punching, welding, grinding, finishing, and assembly

. Ensure all fabrication jobs are completed as per drawings, specifications, and timelines. Monitor daily output, machine utilization, manpower deployment, and material flow.

B. Technical & Process Control

Review fabrication drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications. Ensure correct process parameters for

MIG, TIG, Arc welding

and metal fabrication standards. Minimize rework through process control, fixture design improvements, and fabrication techniques.

C. Team Leadership & Workforce Management

Lead a team of

fabricators, welders, operators, supervisors

, and contract manpower. Allocate manpower based on skills and production load. Provide on-job training for welding quality, fabrication methods, and safety practices.

D. Quality Assurance & Compliance

Ensure products meet dimensional accuracy, weld strength, finishing, and design specifications. Coordinate with QA for

WPS, PQR, WPQ

, and weld quality validation. Maintain compliance with

ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001

manufacturing processes. Drive reduction of

rework, defects, distortion, and weld failures

.

E. Machine & Equipment Management

Ensure proper utilization of fabrication machines: Laser/CNC Cutting Machine Press Brake / Bending Machine Power Press Welding Machines (MIG/TIG/Arc) Grinding, Drilling & Machining Tools Coordinate with maintenance for preventive & breakdown maintenance.

F. Material Planning & Coordination

Ensure availability of raw material (sheet metal, pipes, rods, profiles, consumables). Minimize wastage and scrap through optimized nesting and planning. Coordinate with PPC, Purchase, and Stores for material and consumable planning.

G. Safety, Environmental & Legal Compliance

Enforce strict safety practices for welding, cutting, grinding & lifting. Conduct toolbox talks and ensure PPE usage. Ensure compliance with

ISO 45001 and ISO 14001

safety & environmental guidelines.

H. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain production logs, welding logs, machine load charts, and manpower reports. Prepare daily/weekly MIS reports: productivity, rejections, downtime, and scrap analysis. Ensure audit readiness for ISO and customer audits.

6. Required Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of

fabrication processes, welding techniques, and sheet metal operations

. Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and fabrication tolerances. Knowledge of

ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001

standards. Expertise in

Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, TPM

. Strong team leadership, planning, and decision-making abilities. Good communication and coordination with PPC, QA, Design, and Maintenance.

7. Qualification & Experience

Diploma / BE / B.Tech

in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or related engineering.

Experience:

8-12 years in fabrication production Minimum 3-5 years in a leadership/head role Experience in

automobile fabrication-heavy manufacturing

preferred.
