The Production Head is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing all production activities in the garment outsourcing process -- from fabric sourcing to final shipment. This includes coordinating with job workers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery, quality output, and cost-effective production as per buyer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Execution
Prepare production plans based on requirements, TNA (Time & Action) sheets, and delivery timelines.
Allocate production lots to suitable job workers based on their capacity and specialization.
Monitor daily production progress and take corrective actions to avoid delays.
Ensure raw materials, trims, and accessories are issued as per production schedule.
2. Vendor & Job Worker Management
Identify, appoint, and evaluate stitching, embroidery, handwork, and dyeing job workers.
Negotiate rates and ensure cost-effective outsourcing while maintaining quality standards.
supervise regular follow-ups with job workers to ensure production flow and adherence to timelines.
Resolve on-ground production or quality issues raised by jobbers.
3. Quality Control & Process Compliance
Ensure strict implementation of quality checkpoints at each stage (cutting, stitching, finishing, packing).
Review and approve PP samples before bulk production.
Coordinate with the QC department to maintain inspection records and rectify recurring issues.
Maintain consistency in measurements, finishing, and garment presentation.
4. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with the Merchandising team for design handovers, technical sheets, and production approvals.
Communicate production status reports to the management and merchandising teams.
Ensure smooth coordination between job workers and in-house supporting teams (QC, dispatch, production).
5. Cost & Efficiency Management
Optimize production cost by monitoring wastage, rework, and fabric utilization.
Maintain production efficiency targets for each jobber and analyze productivity data.
Suggest process improvements to enhance output and reduce delays.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed production records including job challans, material issue/return slips, and QC reports.
Update TNA and production tracking sheets daily.
Prepare weekly production status reports for management review.
Ensure all documentation is signed, dated, and properly filed (both softcopy & hardcopy).
7. Team Management & Leadership
Supervise the production, QC, and store teams.
Conduct daily production meetings to review progress and assign priorities.
Provide training to team members and jobbers on quality standards and process improvements.
Foster a disciplined and quality-oriented work culture.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of garment manufacturing processes and outsourced job work systems.
Expertise in women's ethnic wear (especially kurtis and 3-piece sets).
Excellent coordination, follow-up, and communication skills.
Proficiency in TNA planning, production tracking, and Excel reporting.
Problem-solving approach with quick decision-making ability.
Vendor negotiation and cost management.
Quality assurance understanding (AQL standards preferred).
Qualification & Experience:
Graduate in Textile / Apparel Production / Fashion Technology or related field.
6-8 years of experience in garment production, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or head role.
Experience in managing outsourced job work units (stitching, embroidery, dyeing, finishing).
