Job Summary

Responsible for programming, setting up, operating and maintaining

OD (Outside Diameter) and ID (Inside Diameter) cylindrical grinders

to achieve precision diameters, surface finish and tolerances on components used in manufacturing. Works closely with Production, Quality and Maintenance to ensure process capability, first-pass yield and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Set up, program and operate

OD & ID cylindrical grinders

to produce parts to specified drawings and tolerances.

2. Perform first-article setups and process validation (trial runs), adjust machine parameters, wheels and feeds to meet dimensional and surface finish specs.

3. Monitor in-process parts, perform measurement checks (micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators), and make corrective adjustments to maintain SPC and FTY.

4. Troubleshoot grinding defects (burn, chatter, taper, ovality), select appropriate abrasives/coolants, and implement corrective actions.

5. Collaborate with Quality & Maintenance to document standard operating procedures, tooling lists, preventive maintenance and continuous improvement (kaizen) actions.

6.Prepare grinding fixtures, dresser cycles and wheel balancing; dress wheels as required.

7.Recommend tooling, wheel types and grinding parameters for new part introductions.

8.Train junior operators and maintain accurate production/inspection records.

9.Support root-cause analysis for rejects and participate in CAPA/8D as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma / ITI in Mechanical / Tool & Die / Mechatronics OR B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical (preferred).

1.5 years' hands-on experience with OD/ID cylindrical grinders (manual and CNC grinders preferred).

Strong knowledge of grinding wheels, abrasives, coolant management and grinding metallurgy.

Experience with precision measurement tools (micrometer, bore gauge, CMM exposure a plus).

First-pass yield (%) and reject rate.

Average cycle time vs target.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹27,000.00 per month
