PRODUCTION ENGINEER - JOB DESCRIPTION

Shift:

3 Shift Working

Objective:



To ensure smooth and efficient production processes by executing the production plan, managing shop floor operations, maintaining quality and safety standards, and improving productivity.

Key Responsibilities:



1.?Production Planning & Execution



Execute the Daily Production Plan as per PPC targets.
Allocate manpower shift-wise based on production requirements.
Monitor hourly/daily production status and take action on shortfalls.
Ensure batch-wise traceability and maintain SWIP flow between workstations.

2.?Process Control & Monitoring



Supervise the process stages: coil winding, assembly, dipping, curing, and testing.
Ensure process parameters are maintained as per control plan.
Conduct first-piece approval at start of shift/changeover.
Regularly update SOPs and work instructions in consultation with QA.

3.?Manpower Supervision



Supervise line operators, line technicians, and support staff.
Conduct on-job training for new or cross-functional operators.
Maintain skill matrix and operator performance tracking.
Ensure discipline, attendance, and shift handover protocols are followed.

4.?Quality & Rejection Control



Support Quality team for in-process checks and final inspections.
Lead rejection analysis using 5 Whys, Pareto, and Fishbone diagrams.
Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) on production lines.
Ensure no mix-up of OK/NOK material in proces.
Exposure to quality tools: 7 QC Tools, 5 WHY, 8D, CAPA,A3 etc

5.?Process Improvement & Lean Initiatives



Conduct time study, line balancing, and process standardization,8 Waste Analysis.
Implement 5S, Kaizen, Poka Yoke, and other Lean tools on shopfloor.
Identify bottlenecks and suggest automation or layout improvements.
Participate in cost reduction and productivity enhancement projects.

6.?Documentation & Reporting



Maintain Hourly Production Reports,Daily Production Reports (DPR), shift logs, and downtime records.
Generate OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), Yield, and Rejection dashboards.

7.?Safety & Compliance



Ensure compliance with safety protocols, PPE usage.
Conduct toolbox talks and participate in safety audits.
Identify and report near-misses, unsafe acts/conditions.
Maintain fire exits, evacuation routes, and machine guards in working condition.

Required Technical Skills:



Preference will be given to candidates who have worked as Production Engineers on fully automatic production lines and have experience in handling electronics product assembly lines.

Essential Technical Knowledge for Automation Line



PLC & HMI Basics - Understand operation screens, alarm messages, and basic fault diagnosis.

Basic knowledge and familier with different types of sensor functioning.

Basic knowledge and experience of handling Pneumatic cylinders.

Familier with Auto feeding system and conver systems.

Cycle Time & Process Parameter Monitoring - Checking and adjusting speed, temperature, pressure, curing time, etc.

Fault & Alarm Handling - Root-cause tracing using HMI/PLC diagnostics and action escalation.

Basic understanding of electrical testing and instruments

Preventive Maintenance Support - Sensor calibration, actuator checks, pneumatic leakage, lubrication points.

Familier for using measuring instruments DV,DMIC,DHG,DMM,Power Supply,Camera based inspection system.

Ability to read Component diagrams, assembly drawings, and process layouts

Software Skills



MS Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, charts, productivity trackers)

Familiarity with ERP, SAP, or production management software

Soft Skills:



Team leadership and manpower handling

Strong communication with cross-functional teams (QA, Store, Maintenance)

Analytical thinking and problem-solving approach

Time management and multitasking in high-pressure conditions

Willingness to work in shifts and flexible on extended hours

Qualification:



B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electronics / Electrical / Production/Mechatronics

5 years of experience in a production or process engineering role in a manufacturing environment

Candidates with prior experience as a Production Engineer on fully automatic lines, particularly in electronics assembly lines will be preferred.
