The Production Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising manufacturing operations to ensure efficient production processes, optimal resource utilization, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with safety and statutory requirements.
2. Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules as per customer orders and targets.
Ensure timely execution of production plans with minimum downtime.
Coordinate with stores, maintenance, and quality departments for uninterrupted production.
Monitor production output and take corrective actions to meet targets.
Process Improvement & Efficiency
Analyze production processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
Implement lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reduce rejection, rework, scrap, and material wastage.
Standardize work procedures and operating instructions.
Quality Control
Ensure adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Coordinate with QA/QC team for in-process and final inspections.
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.
Maintain proper production and quality records.
Manpower Management
Allocate manpower effectively across shifts and operations.
Guide, train, and supervise operators and helpers.
Ensure discipline, productivity, and safe working practices on the shop floor.
Support skill development and cross-training of workers.
Machine & Maintenance Coordination
Ensure proper utilization of machines and equipment.
Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Monitor machine performance and report abnormalities.
Support commissioning of new machines or processes.
Safety, EHS & Compliance
Ensure compliance with safety rules, SOPs, and statutory requirements.
Promote safe working practices and use of PPE.
Report and investigate near misses, accidents, and unsafe conditions.
Support EHS audits and inspections.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily production reports, shift reports, and MIS data.
Track KPIs such as productivity, OEE, rejection rate, and downtime.
Prepare reports for management review and audits.
3. Authority
Assign work to shop-floor personnel within approved production plans.
Recommend process improvements and corrective actions.
Escalate production, quality, and safety issues to the Production Manager.

5. Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
Experience:
2-5 years for mid-level Production Engineer
Fresher / 0-2 years for Junior Production Engineer (if applicable)
Experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment preferred.
