Job Title: Production Engineer - Roll Forming Industry

Department: Production/Manufacturing

Location: Jigani, Bengaluru

Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Head

Job Summary

The Production Engineer - Roll Forming is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing roll forming production processes to achieve targets related to safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity. The role involves managing day-to-day shop floor operations, ensuring machine efficiency, minimizing downtime, and maintaining product quality as per drawings and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Control

Execute daily and monthly production plans as per schedules. Coordinate with PPC, maintenance, quality, and stores to ensure smooth production flow. Monitor production output, cycle times, and line efficiency. Ensure on-time delivery of finished goods.
Roll Forming Operations

Set up, operate, and monitor roll forming lines for various profiles. Ensure correct tooling, roll alignment, strip width, thickness, and material grade. Troubleshoot roll forming issues such as bow, twist, camber, edge wave, and dimensional deviations. Support new profile development, trials, and line changeovers.
Quality Assurance

Ensure products meet drawing, tolerance, and customer requirements. Coordinate with QA for first-off approval, in-process checks, and final inspection. Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues. Maintain quality records and inspection reports.
Machine & Process Improvement

Monitor OEE, downtime, scrap, and rework. Implement continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean, 5S). Support preventive and breakdown maintenance activities. Recommend process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce cost.
Manpower & Safety Management

Supervise and guide operators and helpers on the shop floor. Allocate manpower effectively to meet production targets. Ensure compliance with safety rules, PPE usage, and SOPs. Conduct safety talks and promote a safe working environment.
Documentation & Reporting

Maintain production reports, shift logs, and rejection data. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production summaries. Ensure adherence to ISO/IATF/company standards and documentation.
Qualifications & Skills Education

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering.
Experience

1-3 years of experience in the roll forming or cold forming industry. Hands-on experience with roll forming machines and tooling.
Technical Skills

Strong understanding of the roll forming process and defects. Knowledge of production planning, quality tools, and maintenance basics. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Familiarity with ERP systems and MS Excel.
Behavioral Skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Good communication and team coordination abilities. Ability to work in shifts and under production pressure. Continuous improvement mindset.
