- Production Engineer (Roll Forming)

Job Title: Production Engineer - Roll Forming

Department: Production/Manufacturing

Location: Jigani

Reporting To: Production Manager.

Job Summary

The production engineer in the roll forming division is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process, ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, minimizing downtime, and optimizing machine performance. The role involves coordination with design, maintenance, quality, and planning teams to ensure smooth production flow and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

1. Plan, schedule, and monitor daily roll forming production activities.

2. Ensure production targets (output, efficiency, and quality) are achieved.

3. Optimize machine utilization and minimize changeover time.

4. Maintain production records and prepare daily/weekly reports.

Process Optimization

5. Analyze roll forming line performance and identify areas for improvement.

6. Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

7. Standardize operating procedures (SOPs) for roll forming machines.

8. Monitor parameters like speed, thickness, feed rate, and tooling wear.

Quality & Compliance

9. Ensure products meet required dimensional and surface finish standards.

10. Work closely with the quality team for first-piece inspection and in-process checks.

11. Address quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

12. Maintain compliance with ISO/TS and other quality systems.

Tooling & Maintenance

13. Coordinate with the tool room and maintenance team for die/machine setup.

14. Ensure timely availability of roll sets, tools, and fixtures.

15. Monitor and report tool life, preventive maintenance schedules, and breakdowns.

Manpower & Safety Management

16. Supervise operators and technicians on the shop floor.

17. Train and guide the team in safe operating practices and machine handling.

18. Ensure compliance with safety norms and housekeeping standards (5S).

Coordination & Reporting

19. Liaise with planning, design, and stores departments for smooth workflow.

20. Provide feedback to the design and R&D teams for product or tooling improvements.

21. Maintain production documents and support audits.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of roll forming machines, coil handling, and tooling setup.

Understanding of metal forming principles and sheet thickness variations.

Ability to read technical drawings and machine parameters.

Familiar with lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S practices.

Good communication and team management skills.

Basic understanding of AutoCAD or similar design tools (added advantage).

Educational Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

2-3 years of experience in the roll forming / metal fabrication industry, preferably in a production or process engineering role.
