Job Summary

The Production Designer - Furniture is responsible for converting approved design concepts into accurate production drawings and specifications for furniture manufacturing. The role ensures design feasibility, cost efficiency, material optimization, and smooth coordination between design, production, and site teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Drawings

Prepare detailed

shop drawings, production drawings, and assembly drawings

for furniture. Convert concept designs into

manufacturable designs

with accurate dimensions and tolerances. Develop

cut lists, BOQs, and material specifications

. Ensure drawings comply with client approvals and manufacturing standards.

Production Coordination

Coordinate with

factory production teams

to clarify drawings and resolve technical issues. Support production during

prototype and bulk manufacturing

stages. Modify drawings as per site conditions or production feedback.

Material & Process Knowledge

Select appropriate

materials, hardware, finishes, and accessories

. Optimize designs to reduce material wastage and production cost. Ensure designs meet

quality, safety, and durability standards

.

Quality & Documentation

Maintain revision control of drawings and documents. Conduct design checks to ensure

accuracy before production release

. Assist in resolving

production and installation issues

related to design.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of

furniture manufacturing processes

(wood, modular, panel-based furniture). Proficiency in

AutoCAD / SolidWorks / SketchUp

(as applicable). Understanding of

CNC machining, joinery, and hardware fittings

. Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior drawings. Good coordination and communication skills.

Qualifications

Diploma / Degree in

Furniture Design, Interior Design, Product Design, or Mechanical Design

. 3-6 years of experience in

furniture production design

or related field.

Preferred Experience

Experience in

custom furniture, modular furniture, or retail fixtures

. Knowledge of

export or large-scale manufacturing standards

is an advantage.
