Job Title: Production Broadcast Engineer





Introduction:



The Production Broadcast Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of live and recorded broadcasts at the Sports Facility. This position is vital for maintaining the technical integrity of broadcast and production systems across multiple studios and control rooms. The engineer will provide front-line technical support, maintenance, and project management for broadcast systems, ensuring the smooth execution of live, day-of-air programs. This role requires adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic, fast-paced broadcast environment.



Roles and Responsibilities:



Provide day-to-day engineering support for broadcast and production systems within control rooms and studios. Perform system-level troubleshooting on video, audio, and IT-based systems. Support live broadcast operations, resolving issues promptly under real-time conditions. Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure the health and reliability of all studio and control room equipment. Assist with technical setups for studio and live productions, ensuring optimal performance. Collaborate with operations and production teams to implement technology solutions that align with broadcast requirements. Install, configure, and upgrade broadcast and IT hardware/software. Troubleshoot and repair equipment to the module level using industry-standard tools. Design, manage, and implement system integration projects, supporting commissioning efforts. Ensure compliance with IT security policies and broadcast standards.


Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a television broadcast environment or a closely related field. Proven experience in fast-paced, live production environments, particularly in sports. Strong customer service focus with a solution-oriented mindset. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Self-starter with the ability to work independently or collaboratively under pressure.


Tools and Technologies:



Proficiency in broadcast production systems, including video switchers and audio consoles (e.g., Calrec). Experience with wireless audio systems, RTS intercom systems, and server-based playout systems. Familiarity with test and measurement tools such as Tektronix and Leader. Understanding of video formats including HDSDI, 1080P, and 4K HDR. Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and digital video infrastructure. Experience with software-driven video systems and cloud-based workflows. Familiarity with SMPTE 2110 standards and IP-based workflows. Knowledge of Sony cameras and switchers, EVS servers, IP Director, XSquare. Experience with Evertz and Grass Valley routing systems, Chyron graphics systems, Avid Media Composer & Interplay. Familiarity with RTS ADAM/Omneo communications systems and system design tools such as AutoCAD. Experience with wireless audio/comm technologies and project management in broadcast environments.
