1. Position Overview
Ramalaya is India's first experiential cultural luxury destination, curating timeless Indian wisdom and knowledge through fragrance, wellness, and personal care. Anchored in deep storytelling, Ramalaya connects modern minds with India's spiritual, artistic, and wellness heritage.
The Product Sourcing & Development Manager will lead the sourcing, curation, and category expansion across Ramalaya's four signature verticals -- Prabhu Shriram, Elora, Avyara, and Earth & Forest. This role demands excellence in identifying authentic, high-quality, culturally aligned, and commercially viable products that embody Ramalaya's brand pillars -- Cultural Luxury, Fragrance with Meaning, Wellness Rooted in Knowledge, India for the World, and Youthful Relevance.
The ideal candidate combines deep product knowledge, sourcing expertise, vendor management experience, and a strong appreciation of Indian aesthetics, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
2. Key Responsibilities. Brand-Aligned Product Expansion
1. Develop and expand product categories consistent with Ramalaya's core offerings:
- JPSR Prabhu Shriram: Sacred incense, temple aromas, spiritual gift boxes.
- Elora: Ancient Indian perfumery reimagined into modern luxury perfumes.
- Avyara: Ayurveda-based wellness and self-care products.
- Earth & Forest: Sustainable, eco-luxury lifestyle artefacts.
2. Source and develop products that reflect Indian heritage with a global luxury presentation.
3. Build a robust pipeline of premium, sustainable, and artisanal product partnerships.
4. Curate festival and cultural collections celebrating India's spiritual diversity.
B. Vendor Identification & Ethical Sourcing
1. Identify and onboard craftsmen, manufacturers, and wellness producers from key Indian clusters.
2. Ensure all sourcing adheres to ethical, sustainable, and fair-trade principles.
3. Conduct audits on quality, authenticity, and compliance.
4. Build exclusive partnerships for Ramalaya Signature Collections.
C. Quality, Design & Story Integration
1. Define Ramalaya Quality Standards covering fragrance purity, ingredient authenticity, and sustainability.
2. Ensure each product tells a story -- its origin, deity, temple, or ancient Indian practice.
3. Collaborate with design and packaging teams for cultural luxury and modern aesthetics.
4. Introduce certification and traceability systems reinforcing product authenticity.
D. Product Development & Innovation
1. Co-create new products integrating fragrance, wellness, and spirituality.
2. Work with R&D and creative teams to reimagine ancient Indian rituals into modern retail experiences.
3. Develop innovative hybrid products -- incense-perfume kits, Ayurveda gifting sets, diffuser rituals.
4. Launch seasonal offerings aligned with Ram Navami, Janmashtami, Diwali, and Navratri.
5. Ensure every product aligns with the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam -- India's soul for the world.
E. Costing, Negotiation & Procurement
1. Develop pricing models balancing luxury positioning with commercial scalability.
2. Negotiate vendor terms, MOQs, and margins.
3. Coordinate with Finance for payment cycles and budgeting.
4. Maintain cost control while preserving craftsmanship integrity.
F. Supply Chain & Retail Coordination
1. Coordinate with store operations for product rollout and replenishment.
2. Monitor inventory, sourcing timelines, and quality consistency.
3. Liaise between production, logistics, and creative teams.
4. Ensure seamless supply to airport experience centres and retail outlets.
G. Reporting & Insights
1. Maintain sourcing and product performance dashboards.
2. Present quarterly category reviews on innovation and vendor performance.
3. Analyze feedback to refine product directions.
4. Prepare strategic sourcing roadmaps for future expansions.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Product Innovation - New culturally aligned SKUs introduced per quarter.
Vendor Development - Sustainable/artisanal vendors onboarded.
Quality Benchmarking - % of lots passing first QC.
Profitability - Category-wise gross margin.
Sustainability - % eco-certified packaging used.
Story Integration - % of products with embedded cultural storytelling.
Customer Delight - Retail feedback and repeat purchase rate.
4. Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Product Development, Retail Management, or Supply Chain.
7-10 years' experience in product sourcing and category development in luxury retail, Ayurveda, or lifestyle sectors.
Proven track record with artisan clusters, wellness producers, and cultural product ecosystems.
Deep understanding of Indian heritage, natural materials, Ayurveda, and fragrance industry.
Experience in vendor compliance, quality audits, and cross-functional coordination.
5. Skills & Competencies
