Product Manager/Owner

Product Manager, Logistics

Fulltime : Onsite

The Product Manager shall thoroughly understand the needs and trends in the market, prioritize offerings/features, write software product specifications and work with software development, marketing, and other functional areas to bring new products to market.

Specific job responsibilities include:

1. Conduct market research, work with existing customers, collect field (sales) feedback

2. Understand market problems, competitive landscape, and technology evolution

3. Document market requirements, define specific offerings, and manage the software product roadmap

4. Understand and differentiate solutions from the competition

5. Lead the innovation effort, including buy/build/partner decisions (product related)

6. Build the business plan, including assumptions, forecasts, risks, and mitigation strategies

7. Work with the development team to ensure on-time/spec delivery, within budget

8. After QA (development), assist the development team with the coordination of beta testing

9. Drive cross-functional launch team to ensure successful introductions of new offerings

10. Manage product lifecycle, including end of life

Collaborate with marketing to launch new software products to the market

11. Support various software sales and marketing initiatives (e.g., speaking events, webinars, tradeshows, whitepapers, etc.) and sales training

Competencies:

1. Full understanding of software product lifecycle and software development processes, including Agile development and stage gates.

2. Working knowledge of marketing principles including value propositions, messaging, and promotional strategies.

3. Working knowledge of market research techniques including in-depth customer interviews, focus groups, and surveys.

4. Working knowledge of financial modeling measures including discounted cash flow, Net Present Value, and margin analysis.

5. Skilled in the creation and delivery of presentations (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint).

6. Skilled in technical project management principles including project planning, action tracking, and meeting facilitation.

7. Skilled in defining and documenting customer requirements.

8. Ability to lead cross-functional teams to execute software product initiatives, collaborating with software engineering, operations, client services, marketing, and sales.

9. Ability to present the status and gain the support of software product initiatives to senior and executive leadership.

10. Ability to gather voice of customer insights to drive user and software product requirements.

11. Ability to generate a business case including technical capability, financial forecast, competitive landscape, and go-to-market strategy.

12. Ability to communicate effectively internally and externally in both oral and written form.

13. Ability to work with the field sales team and live customers.

Education and Experience:

1. Technical degree in engineering or related field (e.g. Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)

2. MBA preferred

3. 5+ years of experience in a technical or engineering-related field

4. 2+ years of experience in product management
