Materials and thermal knowledge
Very important. Understanding of copper alloys, brass, insulating materials, plastics, rubber, springs, cables, and heat dissipation. They should know why a torch overheats and how to fix it without just adding cost.
Manufacturing process knowledge
Machining, brazing, crimping, injection moulding, cable assembly, quality control, and failure analysis. They must design products that are easy to manufacture at scale.
Testing and validation
Ability to define and run endurance tests, heat tests, duty cycle tests, and field trials. Should know international standards like EN, IEC, ISO, CE related to welding accessories.
Problem solving and improvement mindset
Someone who enjoys fixing complaints like overheating, loose tips, cable failures, feeding issues, and spatter problems and converting them into product improvements.
Commercial and market understanding
Costing and value engineering
Ability to balance performance vs cost. Knows where to spend money and where not to. Can reduce cost without killing quality.
Customer and distributor feedback handling
