The head of product procurement is responsible for leading all procurement operations to ensure our retail stores and distribution teams are well-stocked with in-demand products. this role bridges the gap between supplier networks and front line sales operations, ensuring seamless availability, pricing efficiency, and supply chain reliability. the ideal candidate is a strategic leader with hands- on experience in retail supply chains and deep knowledge of the musical instruments market.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Inventory Management
Lead end-to-end procurement for musical instruments, audio gear, and related accessories.
Develop buying plans based on retail trends, sales forecasts, and historical performance.
Maintain healthy inventory levels across warehouses and retail locations; optimize stockrotation and sell-through.
Retail Support & Collaboration
Coordinate closely with retail managers and distribution teams to understand store-level needs, seasonal demand, and product performance.
Prioritize procurement decisions that directly support retail promotions, product launches, and in-store availability.
Facilitate efficient flow of goods from suppliers to store shelves, minimizing lead times and stock outs.
Supplier Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and exclusive agreements where appropriate.
Ensure supplier compliance with quality, service, and fulfillment standards.
Logistics & Distribution Coordination
Partner with logistics and warehouse teams to streamline inbound shipments and internal product transfers.
Monitor and resolve delays, customs issues, or supply chain disruptions proactively.
Support just-in-time delivery and inventory accuracy across all retail locations.
Team Leadership & Reporting
Lead the procurement team, setting performance targets and coaching staff to meet operational goals.
Provide data-driven reports and procurement KPIs to senior leadership.
Monitor product life cycle, pricing trends, and new product availability from key vendors.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (MBA or advanced certification is a plus).
7+ years of experience in procurement or buying roles, preferably within the retail or distribution sector.
Experience managing inventory across multiple locations or retail stores.
Deep understanding of musical instruments and gear preferred.
Excellent negotiation, organizational, and leadership skills.
Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in ERP and inventory management systems (e.g.,SAP, NetSuite).
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
