Job Description


Role Responsibilities

Strategy

Strong focus on maintaining and enhancing control environment for SCB AG, automation and efficiency of Finance processes.

Foster a close relationship to the business stakeholders and take a key role in new product development, driving forward the product inventory, as well as improving the efficiency in the existing business.

Continuous contributions towards improvements in processes, controls and documentation in the Product Finance function through implementation of new systems, elimination of non-value added work and streamlining of functional procedures.

Identification of weaknesses in current processes, both on-shore and off-shore, as well as developing and implementing effective solutions.

Create and improve documentation to ensure full transparency of processes, both internally and with respect to auditors and regulators.

Business

The role is part of the overall SCB AG Finance department which is responsible for all financial and management reporting for the region including supporting the various business heads, the local CEOs and all the Group functions and business teams across our Global footprint to understand, manage and drive the complex business and operations within Europe.

Responsible for implementing the smooth functioning of Product Finance reporting and controls across all banking products, including but not limited to Financial Markets, Transaction Banking and Corporate and Institutional Lending in accordance with policy guidelines.

Processes

  • As part of the team, play an instrumental role in building a robust Product Finance function within SCB AG
  • Daily run of the market conformity control required per MaRisk regulations for SCB AG
  • Support the Product Finance team with efforts to improve the understanding of the performance of the business and underlying drivers
  • Support the Product Finance Team in improving the communication with the business to support them to bring the business forward and make better informed decisions
  • Collaborate with the business on new product development to build the product inventory
  • Work with Business Spend Management to identify efficiency measures.
  • Proactive implementation and improvement of control processes and infrastructure, including system improvements, for new and existing products
  • Use advanced excel skills to implement efficient finance processes in collaboration with offshore and onshore teams
  • Automate processes and improve efficiency by implementing End User Computing processes and controls \xe2\x80\x93 can involve use of Excel, SQL and / or Python
  • Continuous contribution towards process improvements through:
  • implementation of new systems, elimination of non-value-added work and streamlining of functional procedures
  • Challenging current practices and procedures and identifying opportunities for efficiencies including task migrations
  • Identification of weaknesses in current processes and developing and implementing effective solutions
  • Understand and document trade capture and risk systems and associated controls to assess downstream implications to P&L and balance sheet
  • Participates in planning enhancements to financial systems and based on business rationale.
  • Anticipates the potential impact of decisions based on financial data analysis
  • Regular interaction with the offshore team who produce reporting and key reconciliations
  • Analyses and resolves common and complex reconciliation problems.
  • Preparation of month end accounting entries ensuring compliance to HGB
  • Production of management accounts pack, including the posting of all journals and balance sheet reconciliations
Risk Management
  • Track and resolve control issues
  • Work alongside the Business and Support units on operational risk matters to ensure business growth is balanced with risk management and controls
  • Promote a strong risk management and a compliance culture
Governance
  • Work closely with Head of Product Finance and with wider product finance/ finance team in managing financial and reporting risks
  • Ensure policies and controls for compliance with MaRisk and other applicable regulations are in place and adhered to
  • Ensure financial control policies and compliance monitoring measures are in place and being adhered to
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\xe2\x80\x99s and SCB AG\xe2\x80\x99s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group and SCB AG\xe2\x80\x99s Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Regulator: BaFin.
  • Exercise authorities delegated by the Management Board and act in accordance with Articles of Association (or equivalent)

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelors or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree with significant training and experience in Product Finance and / or Product Control in Banking including Financial Markets, Transaction Banking and Corporate and Institutional Lending
  • Experience in working with key stakeholders across business functions and externally, including auditors and regulators
  • Training and experience in accounting under both IFRS and HGB
  • Certifications and training in IT and /or coding would be a strong advantage
  • Professional accounting qualification would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • German language skills would be an advantage
