Position Summary





We seek an experienced

Product Development & Packaging Coordinator

to join our Jodhpur team. This dynamic role focuses primarily on

case goods product development

, with a complementary emphasis on

packaging engineering

for e-commerce distribution. The ideal candidate will coordinate product sampling, technical documentation, and vendor communication to ensure Mercana's designs are developed efficiently, meet quality standards, and are packaged to North American expectations following

ISTA 3A

guidelines.






Key Responsibilities





Support Product Development





Coordinate case goods development from concept to production. Manage prototype, pre-production, and sample development processes. Review product samples for construction, finish quality, and design accuracy. Collaborate with design and photography teams to support content creation. Maintain and update the product development database with specifications, images, and approvals.

Support Packaging Quality





Work with QC and PD teams to ensure packaging standards and consistency across vendors. Analyze damage reports, identify root causes, and support corrective actions. Maintain packaging specification documentation and support improvement initiatives. Assist in implementing sustainable and cost-effective packaging solutions.





Success in this role will be measured by:





Accuracy and timeliness of product development deliverables. Reduction in packaging-related damages. Vendor compliance and responsiveness. Cost and process improvements within development and packaging functions.



Required Qualifications





Education & Certification





Bachelor's degree in

Industrial Design

,

Furniture Design

,

Engineering

, or a related technical field. Formal training or coursework in

packaging design

or

supply chain logistics

considered an asset.

Experience





Minimum

2+ years

of combined experience in f

urniture product development

,

sampling coordination

, or

packaging engineering

.

Proven track record managing

prototype development

,

vendor communication

,

and

design-to-production handoff

.

Experience working with

North American or European

markets is an asset. Exposure to

ISTA testing

or packaging standardization programs is beneficial.

Product Development Expertise





Strong understanding of

furniture construction methods, joinery, and materials

(wood, veneer, metal, stone, finishes). Experience coordinating between

design, engineering, and production

teams to ensure design intent and manufacturability. Ability to evaluate

samples for quality, proportion, finish, and functional integrity

. Knowledge of

wood packaging material (WPM)

and

ISPM 15

export requirements. Familiarity with

e-commerce readiness

standards and

packaging optimization

principles. Software & Technical Skills



Working knowledge of

Microsoft Office Suite

and

Qarma

(or similar QC systems). Comfortable managing data and images within product development databases and file management systems. Language & Travel



Fluent in

English and Hindi

for effective communication with North American teams and local vendors. Ability to

travel within India

for factory visits, sample reviews, and packaging evaluations.
