to support the design, modeling, and development of UAV airframes and components. This role requires strong CAD skills, problem-solving ability, and hands-on involvement in prototype development.
Key Responsibilities
1. UAV Airframe & Component Design
Create 3D models of UAV components including fuselage, wings, control surfaces, payload mounts, and internal structures.
Develop detailed 2D drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing-ready designs.
Ensure designs meet aerodynamic, structural, and weight requirements.
2. CAD Modelling & Design Optimization
Work primarily in
SolidWorks / CATIA
for surface modeling, and assemblies.
Perform tolerance analysis and ensure manufacturability of components.
Optimize designs for strength, stiffness, ease of assembly, and performance.
3. Prototype Development Support
Coordinate with composite, CNC, and assembly teams for prototype builds.
Provide design clarifications, updated drawings, and quick modifications when needed.
Participate in part fitting, alignment checks, and troubleshooting during assembly.
4. Design Documentation
Prepare BOMs, exploded views, technical drawings, and revision-controlled design files.
Maintain proper documentation of design changes, iterations, and development logs.
Follow internal design standards and version control practices.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with aerodynamics, electronics, software, and flight test teams to ensure seamless integration.
Incorporate feedback from field testing into design improvements.
Support root cause analysis of design-related issues.
6. Testing & Validation Support
Assist in load testing, fitment checks, and structural validation of designed parts.
Identify areas of failure or improvement and propose design changes.
Participate in ground tests and field trials when required.
Work with our CNC and Composite Fabrication Vendors, sometimes require onsite help so willingness to travel
Required Skills & Experience
2+ years of experience in mechanical or aerospace design (UAV experience preferred).
Strong skills in
SolidWorks or CATIA
(Part, Assembly, Surface, Drafting modules).
Understanding of materials such as composites, aluminum, and plastics.
Ability to interpret and create GD&T-based drawings.
Familiarity with UAV design fundamentals (aero surfaces, CG, payload integration).
Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mindset.
Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
Prior experience in UAV design, RC aircraft, robotics, or aerospace startups is an advantage.
