Purchase Manager - Industrial Automation

Job Summary:



The Purchase Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the procurement of equipment, materials, and services required for industrial automation operations. The role involves vendor management, strategic sourcing, cost optimization, contract negotiation, and ensuring timely availability of quality materials to support production and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:



Procurement & Sourcing



Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company goals. Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for automation components (PLCs, sensors, drives, control panels, etc.) and mechanical/electrical materials. Source new vendors for cost competitiveness, quality improvement, and innovation. Ensure compliance with approved supplier lists and purchasing policies.

Vendor Management



Negotiate contracts, prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers. Establish long-term relationships with reliable suppliers and technology partners. Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and cost metrics. Manage supplier audits and ensure adherence to company standards.

Cost & Inventory Control



Develop cost-saving initiatives and track procurement KPIs. Analyze purchase spend and implement cost reduction programs. Coordinate with inventory and stores to maintain optimal stock levels and avoid shortages or overstocking.

Coordination & Communication



Work closely with engineering, production, and project teams to forecast material requirements. Collaborate with finance to ensure accurate budgeting, cost approvals, and timely payments. Coordinate logistics and ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites or production lines.

Compliance & Documentation



Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier documents. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, ISO, and statutory requirements. Manage import/export documentation and liaise with customs agents if required.

Required Skills & Competencies:



Strong knowledge of

industrial automation components

(PLC, SCADA, drives, sensors, relays, etc.) Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills. Understanding of supply chain, logistics, and import/export procedures. Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making abilities. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally ERP, etc.). Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Education & Experience:



Qualification:

B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Engineering (MBA in Supply Chain or Materials Management preferred).

Experience:

3-4 years in procurement, preferably in

industrial automation, manufacturing, or engineering projects

.

Certifications (optional):

CPSM, Six Sigma, or Supply Chain certifications are added advantages.

KPIs / Performance Indicators:



Cost savings achieved through strategic sourcing. On-time delivery rate of materials. Supplier quality and performance metrics. Reduction in lead times and procurement cycle time. Compliance with budgets and purchasing policies.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ?30,000.00 - ?50,000.00 per month
