Procurement Manager - Industrial Projects

Position Overview

Lead procurement activities for large-scale industrial projects, ensuring timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services while optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance. Manage complex supply chains and vendor relationships throughout project lifecycles from planning through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement Planning Develop comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with project schedules, budgets, and technical specifications. Conduct market analysis to identify qualified suppliers and assess supply chain risks. Create procurement timelines integrated with overall project milestones and critical path activities.

Supplier Management Establish and maintain relationships with key industrial suppliers, contractors, and service providers. Conduct supplier qualification processes including financial stability assessments, quality certifications, and capability evaluations. Negotiate master service agreements and framework contracts to optimize terms and pricing.

Contract Administration Lead RFP/RFQ processes for major equipment packages, bulk materials, and specialized services. Manage contract negotiations ensuring favorable terms while maintaining quality standards and delivery commitments. Oversee contract administration including change orders, progress payments, and performance monitoring.

Cost Management Develop and maintain procurement budgets with detailed cost breakdowns by category and project phase. Implement value engineering initiatives to optimize specifications without compromising functionality. Monitor market conditions and commodity pricing to inform procurement timing decisions.

Quality Assurance Establish quality requirements and inspection protocols for all procured items. Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure technical compliance and specification adherence. Manage supplier quality audits and corrective action processes when performance issues arise.

Risk Mitigation Identify and assess procurement risks including supplier capacity constraints, material availability, and geopolitical factors. Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies. Maintain supplier diversity programs to reduce concentration risk.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 7-10 years procurement experience with at least 5 years in industrial or heavy construction projects. Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or PMP preferred.

Technical Skills Proficiency in procurement software systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms). Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting. Understanding of industrial equipment specifications, manufacturing processes, and quality standards. Knowledge of international trade regulations and Incoterms.

Core Competencies Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality. Excellent analytical capabilities for supplier evaluation and market analysis. Project management skills with ability to coordinate multiple procurement workstreams simultaneously. Understanding of contract law and commercial terms.
