The Packaging Procurement Manager drives strategic sourcing, negotiation, and vendor management for all packaging materials -- both
flexible (laminates, rolls, pouches)
and
rigid (boxes, jars, PET, corrugates)
-- across Chheda's manufacturing network. The role ensures
cost efficiency, supply reliability, quality compliance, and ERP-driven governance
while developing a strong, scalable vendor ecosystem aligned with the company's growth roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Development
Build and maintain category strategies for flexible and rigid packaging.
Develop and manage 3-5 approved vendors per category to ensure competitive pricing and continuity.
Lead cost benchmarking, market intelligence, and alternate supplier identification.
Conduct vendor audits, pre-qualifications, and annual reviews.
2. Commercial Negotiation & Contracting
Lead rate negotiations, annual rate contracts (ARC), and payment term discussions.
Secure cost savings (5-8% annually) through scale leverage, alternate sourcing, and efficient terms.
Implement escalation/de-escalation clauses for commodity-linked inputs.
Ensure contracts and POs carry clear quality and compliance clauses.
3. Procurement Operations & RFQ Management
Consolidate weekly indents and issue RFQs through Odoo ERP.
Evaluate vendor quotes via total cost of ownership (TCO) approach.
Prepare comparative statements and award recommendations.
Approve POs within defined authority levels; maintain full audit trail.
4. Vendor Relationship & Performance
Conduct quarterly vendor reviews (QBRs) with top suppliers.
Track vendor performance scorecards across cost, quality, delivery, and service.
Address vendor disputes, quality issues, and delivery delays proactively.
Reward top-performing vendors and initiate corrective actions for laggards.
5. Cost, Quality & Compliance
Partner with QC to ensure adherence to packaging material specs and certifications.
Track market price movements and forecast cost impacts.
Maintain 100% ERP-based procurement (no informal approvals or WhatsApp orders).
Ensure strict confidentiality of commercial terms.
6. Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and coach Procurement Coordinator(s).
Work closely with production planning, warehouse, finance, and QC teams for material planning and MRP.
Champion process discipline, continuous improvement, and data-driven decisions.
Candidate Profile
Education:
Graduate in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business; MBA preferred.
Experience:
6-10 years total experience, with 3+ years in packaging procurement (FMCG or manufacturing).
Proven experience with ERP systems (preferably Odoo) and vendor negotiation.
Skills:
Advanced Excel & data analysis, strong commercial acumen, contract management.
Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management.
Detail-oriented, process-driven, and compliance-focused mindset.
Work Mode:
Based at Head Office, with periodic factory/vendor visits.
Compensation:
