Job Title: Procurement Manager - Solar Projects

1. Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Purchase Manager to join our dynamic team in Mumbai. This role is central to the success of our pan-India PM-KUSUM projects. You will be responsible for the strategic procurement and timely supply of all components required for our solar water pump installations, including panels, pumps, controllers, mounting structure, and Balance of System (BoS) materials.
The ideal candidate will be a master negotiator with deep experience in the Indian solar industry's supply chain. You will be instrumental in optimizing costs, ensuring compliance with tender specifications, and developing a robust vendor ecosystem to support our target of installing 5,000 pumps in the upcoming financial year across multiple states.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Management:
Identify, evaluate, and develop a strong network of reliable vendors for key components like solar panels, pumps, controllers, mounting structures, etc.
?Stay updated on the MNRE's ALMM (Approved List of Models and Manufacturers) and ensure all procurements adhere to the latest list.
Conduct thorough vendor assessments, negotiations, and empanelment processes to ensure a competitive and high-quality supply base.
Manage vendor relationships, conduct performance reviews, and drive continuous improvement in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
B. Procurement Operations & Cost Control:
Lead, mentor, and delegate tasks to the Purchase Coordinator, ensuring efficient day-to-day procurement operations from RFQ to PO processing and follow-up.
Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle, from raising Request for Quotations (RFQs) to issuing Purchase Orders (POs) and tracking deliveries.
Develop and execute sourcing strategies to achieve cost-reduction targets without compromising on quality or technical specifications required by MNRE/SNA tenders.
Analyze price trends, prepare comparative statements, and maintain a comprehensive database of component costs.
C. Inventory & Logistics Coordination:
Work in close coordination with the Head of Project Execution and State Project Teams to create accurate demand forecasts based on project pipelines.
Implement efficient inventory management strategies (e.g., Just-in-Time) to minimize holding costs while ensuring 100% material availability for project rollouts.
Oversee the logistics from the vendor's location to central warehouses or directly to state project sites, ensuring timely and safe delivery.
D. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure all procured materials strictly adhere to the technical specifications, quality standards (e.g., BIS), and approved vendor lists (AVL) mentioned in the SNA tender documents.
Coordinate with the internal technical/quality team to arrange for pre-dispatch inspections and quality checks as required.
Maintain all necessary documentation, including test certificates and warranty documents for all procured items.
E. Financial & Commercial Management:
Negotiate favorable payment terms and credit periods with suppliers to optimize company cash flow.
Work with the finance department to ensure timely processing of vendor payments.
Prepare procurement budgets, track actuals against the budget, and generate regular reports on purchase activities and savings.
3. Qualifications & Skills
Essential (Must-Have):
Education: Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) or a related technical field.
Experience: 8-12 years of progressive experience in procurement and strategic sourcing.
Industry Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of procurement experience specifically within the Indian solar energy sector. This is non-negotiable.
Component Knowledge: Deep understanding of the supply chain and cost drivers for solar water pumping system components.
Skills: Proven negotiation and vendor management skills, strong analytical abilities, and proficiency in MS Excel.
Preferred (Good-to-Have):
An MBA or postgraduate diploma in Supply Chain Management or Materials Management.
Hands-on experience with an ERP system, particularly procurement modules like SAP MM or Oracle SCM.
Established relationships with key manufacturers and suppliers in the national solar ecosystem.
Experience in procurement for government-tender-based projects.

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
