The role requires technical expertise in food processing, quality control, and machinery operations to ensure premium-grade Omega-3 oil and by-product output. The specialist will also drive compliance with safety, hygiene, and storage standards aligned with FSSAI or pharma-grade benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
Cold Press Unit Operation & Maintenance
Operate and oversee cold press extraction machinery for Omega-3 oil and protein powder processing.
Ensure optimal extraction temperature, RPM, and throughput to maintain nutrient value.
Monitor and calibrate machinery regularly to avoid product loss or contamination.
Raw Material Handling
Coordinate with the harvest and logistics team for timely procurement of freshly harvested fish.
Guide pre-processing techniques such as gutting, degreasing, cleaning, and sorting.
Quality Control & Testing
Conduct regular quality checks on oil parameters (e.g., DHA/EPA levels, moisture content, peroxide values).
Maintain pH, viscosity, odor, and color benchmarks for every batch.
Prepare samples for third-party lab testing or regulatory submissions when required.
Packaging & Storage
Guide filling, sealing, and labeling of Omega-3 oil capsules or bottles.
Implement food-grade or pharma-grade storage practices for oil, powder, and by-products.
Ensure compliance with packaging standards for commercial and D2C sale.
Waste Management & By-Product Utilization
Recommend protocols for safe disposal or repurposing of fish waste (e.g., compost, feed supplement, fish meal).
Explore secondary use cases like fertilizer grade slurry, gelatin, or animal feed additives.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain process logs, batch-wise records, quality testing data, and compliance reports.
Assist in FSSAI, AYUSH, or GMP certifications if applicable.
Ensure workplace hygiene, PPE usage, and safety protocols.
Qualification:
Preferred Education:
B.Tech / M.Tech
in Food Technology, Food Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, or Bioengineering from recognized universities or institutes.
Experience Required:
3 to 5 years
in food/fish processing industries, edible oil units, nutraceuticals, or pharmaceutical-grade oil extraction plants.
Exceptional Freshers Welcome:
Recent graduates from premier institutes (e.g., CFTRI, ICT, NIFTEM, IIFPT, IITs, state food tech colleges) with strong project work, internship experience, or research background are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Attributes:
Familiarity with Omega-3 extraction processes, cold pressing, or centrifugation techniques.
Hands-on experience with SS 304/316 food-grade machinery, oil filtration units, or encapsulation processes.
Awareness of nutritional labeling, safety data sheets (SDS), and ISO/GMP/FSSAI norms.
