Role Purpose:
The Manager - Taxation for India will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, reporting, and risk management for the legal entities in India. The role involves ensuring adherence to global tax policies, managing transfer pricing requirements, enabling strategic tax efficiencies, and serving as a key liaison between India and the global tax organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Strategy & Planning:Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with global business objectives and country operations. Partner with global tax teams to optimize tax structures for cross-border transactions, shared service models, and intercompany arrangements. Advise management on the tax implications of business decisions, expansion, restructuring, or new service offerings.

Compliance & Reporting:Ensure timely and accurate filing of all statutory tax returns (direct tax, indirect tax - e.g., GST/VAT, withholding tax, etc.). Oversee corporate income tax and indirect tax compliance for the country, including tax audits and assessments. Ensure compliance with global and local transfer pricing requirements, including preparation of TP documentation and intercompany agreements. Own tax provisioning and reporting as part of the monthly/quarterly/annual closing process in compliance with IFRS/Ind-AS/US GAAP as needed.

Governance & Risk Management:Establish effective internal controls and processes for tax compliance. Manage and mitigate tax risks through proactive planning, monitoring, and dispute resolution. Act as the primary contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and consultants.

Stakeholder Management:Liaise with global tax teams, external advisors, and local authorities to manage tax positions effectively. Partner with finance, legal, and business operations to enable compliant yet cost-effective business models. Provide leadership, guidance, and training to tax and finance teams within the COUNTRY.

Qualifications & ExperienceChartered Accountant (CA) / CPA / CFA or equivalent professional qualification. 12-18 years of experience in taxation, with significant exposure to IT/ITES, shared services, or global businesses. Strong expertise in corporate tax, indirect tax (GST/VAT), transfer pricing, and international taxation. Experience working with multinational companies, ideally in global delivery model. Proven ability to deal with tax authorities, regulators, and global stakeholders. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Key SkillsDeep understanding of tax laws and compliance frameworks in India. Working knowledge of global tax principles (OECD guidelines, BEPS, Pillar Two, etc.). Strong technical tax accounting skills under IFRS/US GAAP. Excellent stakeholder management and executive presence. Ability to manage ambiguity and rapidly evolving regulatory environments.

Performance MeasuresAccuracy and timeliness of tax compliance and reporting. Effective management of tax audits/litigation with minimal disputes. Successful implementation of global transfer pricing policies. Contribution to tax efficiency and cost optimization within the country. Strength of governance and control framework around tax processes.
