The Process Engineer - Water Treatment will be responsible for the design, development, optimization, and implementation of water and wastewater treatment processes. This role involves preparing process design documents, evaluating treatment technologies, conducting performance analysis, and providing technical support during project execution and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Process Design & Engineering
Develop
PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams)
,
P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
, hydraulic profiles, and mass balance calculations.
Select appropriate treatment technologies (ETP, STP, RO, ZLD, MBR, DAF, etc.) based on project requirements.
Design and size process equipment such as pumps, blowers, tanks, reactors, clarifiers, membranes, and filters.
Develop detailed process design reports, datasheets, and technical specifications.
Project Execution & Support
Provide process engineering support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with process requirements.
Conduct pilot studies, jar tests, and lab-scale trials for technology validation.
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and client specifications.
Optimization & Troubleshooting
Evaluate plant performance and suggest improvements for energy efficiency, water recovery, and OPEX reduction.
Troubleshoot operational challenges in existing treatment plants.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare O&M manuals, process control philosophies, and start-up procedures.
Ensure compliance with
ISO standards, safety norms, and statutory requirements

Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor's / Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
3-8 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment process design and engineering (freshers with strong technical skills may also be considered for junior roles).
Hands-on experience with
ETP, STP, RO, UF, MBR, ZLD, DAF, Demineralization, and other advanced treatment systems
.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of process modeling and simulation tools (AutoCAD, Aspen, MATLAB, or equivalent).
Proficiency in MS Office and engineering design software.
Familiarity with relevant standards (CPHEEO, BIS, USEPA, WHO guidelines).
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Good communication, reporting, and client interaction skills.
